You aren't wrong at all. I'm also not wrong for buying a can from my local guy who isn't yet selling on a 4473, plus supporting ASA, GOA, etc. We're waaaay to hung up on the "no true Scotsman" fallacy in the gun community. |

My last Form 4 transfer from individual to trust was just approved this morning so they're still processing forms. I joined GOA and PFCAF, however, I really have no other NFA items I'm interested in right now so I'll just sit back and see how the rest of this plays out. Maybe if I get bored I'll print a 22LR can or something just to mess with it but we'll see. |

But I'm absolutely not going to condemn anyone for awaiting written direction. Just one example of the issues FFLs are considering - every firearm that comes into the dealer goes into their inventory. When it leaves their inventory, there is a entry in the "disposition" field that shows where the firearm went. For a sale, it is usually the data, name of purchaser, the purchaser's ID info, and the NTN number of the NICS return. For a title II firearm (SBR, Suppressor, etc.) it includes the Form 4 information. So, how does an FFL record the disposition of a suppressor on a 4473? Do they put the ID info and NTN in place of the Form 4 information? Nobody knows. What happens when the disposition is recorded incorrectly? 27 CFR 479, et seq, spells it out: For errors without intent: - $1,000 per erroneous entry, up to $250,000 for systemic errors - License suspension of revocation For intentional improper disposition: - Up to 5 years in prison. So, pretending this is a simple issue is really not accurate. The FFLs have to decide for themselves how to proceed and what they are willing to risk. And they have a whole lot more on the line than the purchaser does. Originally Posted By ParityError: Originally Posted By ShooterPatriot: Instructions from the powers that be. And I think a lot of people are glossing over the detail that 90%+ of FFLs, as businesses, are NOT covered members, and this almost certainly includes some percentage of shops already doing these transfers. |

What does that tell you about the big bad ATF that you're so afraid of? Are you suggesting that selective enforcement isn't a longstanding problem? Enforcement is a longstanding problem. What many have failed to identify, is that for all practical purposes of you and I it is a constant. As I've explained before, no one is giving up the dental plan if the NFA gets nixed. You're asking for a level of safety that will never exist. If ATF can't get you for a NFA violation, they will get you for something, or accuse you long enough that they'll put you in prison and bankrupt you and disturb your banking and income sources to the point it makes not much difference. Of course they have to be incentivized to do this -- they did it to Kettler as fodder for a test case between Kansas and the USA, and they did it for Weaver to investigate white nationalists, in neither case did they actually give much of a shit about the convicted individual or that singular NFA violation. Dugan Ashley is sitting in jail right now for NFA and commercial explosives violations he didn't even commit, they literally made up a new interpretation of the law and then applied it (you cannot be "in the business" of non-commercial personal use). If enforcement safety is what you want, just hang it up and forget about it. Won't happen. After NFA ATF is just moving onto the next excuse to get their kicks sending dogs to heaven. The truth is what the injunction provides is cover and legitimacy for middle class normies, the analog of the legitimacy gang bangers get to do it too when their friends post switches on tick tok. Not safety that will never exist. |

What does that tell you about the big bad ATF that you're so afraid of? Are you suggesting that selective enforcement isn't a longstanding problem? Selective enforcement is a big problem. But, we also have to remember that we are the low-hanging fruit when it comes to enforcement. There's no Form 2 / Form 3 / Form 4 / 4473 trail for a Glock switch. The switches aren't serialized, and there is no paperwork. There are some ATF agents going after and making cases on switches. The ATF Tampa office newsletter usually mentions one or two a month. But that takes work. Tracing down a serialized can takes a few minutes on a computer in the air conditioning. Hence, the low hanging fruit. |

It's not just the paper trail. The middle aged white dude has a mortgage, a full time job, and a vehicle with current registration in his name. The ATF can easily find out where he will be and when he will be there, and they can be reasonably sure it'll be a routine arrest without resistance. |

Just have to love all these internet warriors wanting a FFL to go pout on a limb for them on. Risking their business, Family, and want them to possibly be imprisoned for you. I know full well that all these so called warriors will fold at the of the ATF on their knees. If actually confronted with the threat of losing all in their lives as they know it. They would turn on other people even to regain their lives back from the ATF. Yes there may be a few that would actually fight back. Maybe ones with lives so pathetic that they are loners and have nothing to lose anyway. I assure you 99 .9 percent of the warriors are all BS talk and would do anything once confronted, except beg for forgiveness, and go back to their homes and Family's. Friend has a Gun Shop and no he would never risk his lively hood for your urge to get a Suppressor just for the simple fact of it has no paperwork, until this is all straightened out. . If you do not want paper work, then just roll your own. Great if this all works out for some. But I am afraid for most. The free stamps are going to remain the best option in the end. Until we actually get Legislative repeal of the NFA. Nothing is going to change at the ATF. |

There is a very clear and well reasoned order from a federal judge. He is the authority here, not some simp on the ATF payroll. MDF, do you have any comment on how legally "binding" the guidance would be anyway? Suppose the ATF came out and said "yes we give you (superfluous and redundant) permission to do the things the judge gave you permission to do." How is that any more binding than the beat cop promising the strung out meth-head that "the judge will take it easy on him" if he only shows him the hidden crack pipe and gives up his dealer? The ATF is allowed to lie, in order to actually capture what they say in a binding way IIRC they must publish it in the federal register, allow comments, and then implement it in accordance with regulatory procedures. It would seem getting "guidance" is essentially useless since it's only as good as the claims of sadistic, schitzophrenic opportunistic liars that aren't bound to anything but saying whatever is useful to get their next conviction. They can just as easily turn around and say "whoops, that was the erroneous opinion of a rogue employee and we now think you should all go to jail." |

"UNPRECEDENTED SUPPRESSOR SALES: The NSSF reported that over 850,000 applications were submitted between January and May of 2026." So, roughly, 1/1/26 thru 5/31/26, about 6,000 a day? How many Form NONE whisper pickles since last Thursday? 24,000? LoL - no. Probably a whole lot more than that. |
| I am not real clear where I stand as far as buying one in Nebraska and from whom would be legal. I would do anything to protect my Family, Wife, kids and precious Grandkids. But sorry I will not risk all that over something as insignificant as paperwork filing for my suppressor. Great if everyone can eventually go down and buy one at the local gun show. I am afraid that is simply not the case here just because one Judge made a ruling. It is obvious his ruling is not the Law of the land nationwide.. They are still NFA items to many and in many States are outright banned yet. This a hollow victory at best. But maybe, in the future, we can all benefit from the case getting it rolling in the right direction anyway.. |

Not many situations where its just a switch charge, usually felony possession of a firearm or possession of a firearm during a felony crime to start. Local courts commonly toss the switch charges out and/or let the feds take it. I promise the feds have way more to deal with than they can handle at this time when it comes to gangbangers with switches. |

The only time I've had an issue (some complete asshat called 911 because I was shooting my suppressed SBR at a range after the range staff ignored him), I showed them the form 1 and form 4 and explained that those satisfied the requirements for F.S. 790.221. The two guys I was dealing with were very professional about the whole thing. Might have been very different in a 'blue' area like Tampa, Miami, etc. I'd say keep a copy of the GOA membership and the ruling from the Northern District of Texas with your form 1-less SBR as support for your affirmative defense that your possession of the SBR is in compliance with federal law and thus also in compliance with 790.221. That's what I'll be doing for anything I acquire or build going forward. Of course, that's just my opinion. You can assign whatever worth you choose to it. Recommended values are $0 to $12.87. Void where prohibited. Any resemblance to opinions living, dead, or undead are purely coincidental. |

So, roughly, 1/1/26 thru 5/31/26, about 6,000 a day? How many Form NONE whisper pickles since last Thursday? 24,000? LoL - no. Probably a whole lot more than that. Assuming R's keeps the House and Senate in November, this stuff should be covered by the 2A by next summer when the AWB's are stuck down. Death blow to ban state laws. |

Do you know how I know you've never dealt with a situation with the ATF where you can get a field office and the mother ship in an argument because they can't agree about how to handle something? I do ![]() So glad to not have to deal with all that BS any more. It's like dealing with DMV, but you can end up in prison. |

If there was a way to track downloads of the FTN file pack starting with the deadline, it might be a good indicator. I have a feeling that a ton of people already had the files and were being extra free people already |
