I have been using openDNS in my nether router for content filtering for the kids. Works ok, but I keep getting blocked out of things I want to access and have a hard time with whitelisting stuff and it sticking. I also thought this may be a chance to upgrade security of the network and move to a hardware solution. Does anyone have experience with the Firewalla Purple or the Purple SE? They seem to be a good fit for a small home network, but I have no experience with this. Jake |
| Haven't used those. I run a pi-hole at home to handle my DNS. Use mostly Unifi and Untangle at work. Untangle can give you a lot of control and is relatively easy to configure but it's subscription once you get past the basic features. |
You must play the game. You can't win. You can't break even. You can't quit the game.

i don't know anyone personally who has purchased one i usually refer family / friends / customers to Unifi for simplicity https://store.ui.com/us/en/category/cloud-gateways-compact/collections/cloud-gateway-max or Opnsense or similar for more advanced routing |
