I've always had a soft spot in my heart for rally-ish cars, probably from growing up on dirt and gravel roads.  I loved my WRX, despite its many glaring faults, and replaced it with another AWD sedan.  Lambos never did anything at all for me (I assumed they were a less pretentious Ferrari wannabe for dudes with spray tans) until the Huracán Sterrato.  It is lifted more white trash version of the Huracán; a Lancia Stratos for the 21st century.

My inner redneck has the wants.  Luckily, it would be such an imprudent decision that it is beyond consideration, so I don't have to worry about the details.  But this one of the more personally appealing, novel, and practical super cars I've seen in a while.  I hope it drives some similar products that are a bit more attainable.  The out of production Focus RS is fast and fun to drive, but it is still a focus.

Check out the Porsche 911 Dakar. Still won’t be cheap, but a little less absurd than the lambo.

I saw it as well.  Either would be hypothetical at this point.  I like the trend.

Sharing that picture made this thread better.  OP is just as aware of the Miura and it's aesthetic properties as he is the ownership experience of classic cars.  Having participated in the restoration and ongoing maintenance of several old cars from the Model T forward and currently owning vehicles from the 30s and 50s, I have no desire for a "classic" or "piece of history."  I was all too glad to recently sell a 1950s ford 1930s tractor.

I want to get in, start up, tear ass across the old mine roads and river bottoms, hose the mud off and call it a day.  I couldn't/wouldn't do that with a piece of historic art.  Nor do i want to own else anything without EFI.  I understand automotive electronic controls well, but carburetors are a source of frustration that I'd rather not mess with.  I'll trade intensive maintenance for fugly fender flares any day of the week.  I want to drive, not tinker.

so I live on a minimum maintenance road

That means I can finally get a Lambo again,

wooohoooo    Lambo for a mud road

I am sure it will be awesome driving a rear engine car down a dirt road....  That will last forever  (if your not familiar with dirt roads and rear engine cars, the engine gets caked with about an inch of dirt over everything within a month of driving, yes this is experience talking)

Why do they make beautiful cars in the most disgusting colors?

I have to be one of the few people who have never liked Lambos. They seem to be the cars of thug sports players and rappers. Maybe it's just me.

I didn't even like them in the 80's.

A dealer circa 2005 told me they were beautiful but the biggest pieces of shit ever.
