Please, Watch the entirety of the video first. There are several times where I see people post later to say "nevermind" to the video they posted previously. It's something everybody does at one point or another, but this is not twitter where the most re-posts of a video is the winner. It's better for you to watch then give a 2-3 sentence synopsis of what it is and the good and bad points of it. Not just watching the first 5 minutes and bailing a 5 hour video, since they put all the stuff the video should have been in the first 5 minutes then it goes boring as hell from there. If you don't have time to watch and comment on the video, why do you think everybody else should? We all see them posted as recommended videos based on viewing habits on the various forums already, the only reason I see for cross-posting is if it's from an influencer we have dedicated threads for (why files, jesse michaels, etc), and really interesting videos should go into the short or long video threads with a synopsis, preferably with some rough timestamps like 'boring for first 2 hours, then ok for a half hour and then boring" instead of hoping somebody else will watch the video and give that synopsis. With the length of videos going ludicrous, It should be a law that you don't post a video based on the influencer's thumbnail and their clickbait synopsis. That will so help manage the quality and length of videos posted in this forum all for the better and not clog up threads with videos which will never get watched because they are a link and a thumbnail with no clue what it is unless you open it on youtube then look at the comment war(s) to decide. So a synopsis included with post will make or break that video, just dropping links like reddit is kind of pointless if you can't answer the most interesting parts of it and around which spots, or at worse, which parts suck. It also really helps when people quote your post and it's just the URL so you need to go to YouTube again to see what is being discussed, which can be skipped if poster adds a short synopsis with the link. Thank you for your time and this is just a suggestion. I'm not making a rule or editing a thread, but just noticed that in less than 2 weeks or so since I wiped all my watch later and subscribed, it's back to pushing me with the same videos that get posted here anyway but the commends generally tell you as well as dislikes (YouTube Return Dislike add-on for firefox to show the number of dislikes) and then the skipped places (hover over time bar) and if it passes those sniff tests, I'll watch it for a bit but it needs to be extremely compelling, I'll even scrub through and listen to a dozen spots, that 5 minutes spent will save me 3 hours of watching an AI bunk video that shares nothing new, just re-words and re-combines crap to re-sell when news is slower. | This is a good practice. We are kind of getting flooded with materials lately. It’s hard to keep up. Quality of the videos… maybe we should also mention if it’s an interview, a professionally produced video, or an AI generated and narrated video. The latter, the AI videos can have some interesting content, but can be disorienting, long winded, repetitive. Perhaps AI content videos should always be tagged as such? |

I have noticed that YouTube is adding it's own stinger/notice that there is AI content in the video, but that only seem to apply to videos who's message or content they dislike. There's a lot more egregious violations of entire documentaries with the robot voice over a slideshow what sometimes aren't even synced up are impossible to figure out what they're saying but those don't' et tagged for AI contributed content. I guess I'm ok with all AI videos, that is fine as long as they mention it. What I hate are the people who use AI generated images in a slideshow mixed with real, verified actual original images, so flipping though you see 2 real actual photos and 8 great ones ranging from perfectly clear to a blurry version of the one sample you uploaded so you can't tell where the line is between AI generated and actual photos, though you know there is a line somewhere. Honestly, in topics like this an ancient buildings, nothing should be AI touched up since it will inevitably insert modern patterns to make it look better and after a few generations we'll be wondering why the Egyptians wore plaid or something. |

Well, as someone who bounces in here as often as he can, but doesn't have a ton of time... A two-sentence synopsis of a video that you decide to post seems like the least someone can do? If it means enough to you to put it in front of all of our eyes...maybe tell us what it's about and give us the choice to watch it or not? Would a paragraph be too much to ask? I mean...it took me twenty seconds to type (and edit) this response. If my time isn't worth twenty seconds of yours...well... |

I might change my sig to “watch this video, it’s really important” so y’all know.  Seriously, a synopsis, or what this video is or why may be very good/important is cool. Like “this guy is the head researcher for X and is talking about y, so it could be of interest.” Thats nice, We do have a few “episode” threads, like Brass mentioned for some the big channels, so following those threads maybe a post watch summary is good, since people usually post in there to let folks know a new episode is out as soon as they find it. |
