Good morning Trying to help my neighbor with her garage door opener. She has a chamberlain lift master model 1355 from 2014. It’s an auxiliary door that doesn’t get much use. One day it completely died, wouldn’t open, close or anything and just made a constant clicking noise. I bought a “used-tested” main board off eBay and installed it. No more clicking , I pushed the button and the door opened. All good I thought. Then the damn door wouldn’t close. I tried to power cycle it and set the code to her opener, nothing. I get five flashes which google says may be an RPM sensor but it also says that the door will usually move a foot or two which this one doesn’t do. Im trying to find out if I’m missing anything obvious or if there is anything else I should try. I just find it odd that the board would be bad and the RPM sensor fails at the same time out of the blue. She has a working unit on the main door , can I swap the boards to verify what’s wrong and if I do will the working board maintain its programming during the swap? I don’t want to have two non working units. Thanks |

Don’t you hate that? Just trying to help too. Some other relay is not firing of course. Swapping boards could indeed help, or there could be more issues that that smoke the swapped one. I bought a eBay direct replacement board for my hot tub once. It worked for a day then stopped. Opened it up to check, smoke and flash damage. Bought a new board from the manufacturer….still working. If it was me, I’d tell her time for a new opener. Could be anything beyond the board. You sure the safety sensor beam is lined up? |

Sensors appear to be lined up. One is amber one is green. I also tried to hold the button down which would normally override the sensor but no movement. It literally went up with no issue and then wouldn’t go back down , no movement at all. I do hear a single click when I try to close it but that’s it. |
| Not an answer to your question but my 20 years old garage door opener that was working fine recently started having issues with the antenna and was getting really difficult and finicky with the remotes opening it. A nice new quiet genie belt drive from Home Depot is $200. Might just be cheaper to replace than chasing boards and what not. |
