I wear Mechanix Wear M-Pact gloves, they only last me a few months (at the most) but the fit and dexterity are hard to beat. I do a lot of rigging and mechanic work as well as chaining loads and such. I keep a few new pairs in the truck and just ditch the old ones as they wear out. The ColdWork M-Pact gloves are good for moderately cold weather and don't give up too much dexterity but when it gets really cold I wear Carhartt insulated gloves (like a ski glove), warm but zero dexterity. I've started carrying some latex coated knit gloves for throwing tire chains in the slop, I really like them for that use but my hands sweat too much in them for long term use. |

They "look" durable.. we will see after a month  Ill start using the M-Pacts instead of the low line Mechanix- even if it buys me another 30 days would be worth the price difference I recommend this being the official GLOVES THREAD of the Trucking forum..

If you're going with Mechanix sign up for their mailing list. Sometimes Amazon is cheaper. But Mechanix has a lot of sales and sometimes offers deep discounts. Shipping isn't free, or fast, but it is cheap. On a different note. Have you tried nitrile dipped gloves? If you're wearing the leathers out fast nitrile dipped can be cheap and comes in a variety of thicknesses. You can get multipacks at the box stores for cheap. |

If I had to throw straps or chains for a living, I'd probably be more choosy. Being a food hauler, I use one kind to keep diesel off my hands and another to prevent chipping a nail when slamming doors. I visit HF now and then, and get 5 packs of rubber coated cotton gloves for fuel and the split leather work gloves for other stuff. When they get soaked with grease or holes in them, toss and grab a new pair. |

For every day work I just use cheap palm coated thin gloves. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P1R36HH?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share I tried a BUNCH of different types for install tire chains but settled on something surprising: disposable nitrile gloves. At least for me, just keeping my hands dry solves most of the cold issue. Now taking them off and putting them back on the rack is different. For that, I slip on a pair of heavier duty, insuated palm dipped gloves. |

Coming on 3 MONTHS of cranking legs, pulling tarps and climbing ladders - and these weird knock offs are still going strong - (starting to show a bit though) All in all ? They will outlast the cheap mechanics by almost 2 months (minimum).. Dexterity isnt quite as good as first but when broken in, aint half bad at all. I use Tillman’s These They also have some that are insulated for winter. I’m not spending $15-20 on crap cloth gloves that won’t last a week, when I can buy cowhide for $6 that’ll last 6 months. |
