He was a lot more interesting before he did too many psychedelics.
Can't listen to him.
I do have a couple of his books and most of theories seem valid.

I wouldn't be suprised.  If humans have been around for 100k years, why are we just smart in the last 4000?

We're not.

While I think he is nuts some scientists trace the first homo sapiens back between 200,00 - 300,000 years ago.  If true it is possible there were advanced civilizations that were wiped clean by ice ages.  Maybe yes; maybe no.  Regardless, we have no evidence, only baseless speculation.  It is also possible people were as intelligent back than as today, but without a historical accumulation of knowledge, even the smartest would be, as a consequence, primitive.  Considering how stupid some people today are it is hard to believe primordial man could be even stupider and still survive.

Impossible to prove but plausible fiction can still be entertaining.

Hancock sure has left the whole "Mars Mystery" thing far behind.

As others have pointed out, Hancock has a lot of compelling theories...that can literally never be proven. Could there have been a reasonably advanced civilization (one with maritime and agricultural skill) that had their cities drowned at the end of the Younger Dryas? Sure. Any proof has been under 400' of water for 15,000 years. It's gone. Could said civilization jump-started other more recent civilizations around the globe? Sure. Any "proof" is nothing more than mythology of floods, civilizers coming in afterwards, or "gods" gifting mankind with knowledge.

It's how he makes his living. There's always a book. Nothing he posits can ever be proven (at least not without multiple extraordinary archaeological finds), which is extremely convenient for him.

That said, do I believe his hypothesis? I don't disbelieve it. It's plausible. But is it probable?

Not without actual evidence, or proof. And that's where Hancock stumbles. Badly.
