Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis agreed to campaign on behalf of Donald Trump after the former rivals met Sunday morning as the ex-president looks to retake the White House, sources told The Post.

The two prominent Republicans met in Miami in an attempt to patch up a strained relationship, according to sources.

Insiders also told The Post that DeSantis is expected to raise money for the presumptive GOP nominee, on top of campaigning for him, after his own Oval Office ambitions came up short.

DeSantis will campaign for OMB

I still believe that DeSantis will be the VP pick.

That certainly would not seem wise to have your President & Vice President from the same state.

12th Amendment ...
The Electors shall meet in their respective states and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves. ...

If BOTH Trump & DeSantis run on the SAME ballot, then "Team Trump" had better find a huge enough surplus of votes to win - without Florida's massive electoral vote count.

DeSantis will be more useful as governor.
Trump will carry Florida regardless.

Regardless, the dust has settled and Biden is a bigger threat.

As much as many on this board including myself pushed and defended Ron against the complete bullshit that flew his way, the primaries are over.

Buckley Rule applies and Trump is more conservative than Biden.

He needs to pick someone who will get him more votes.  DeSantis won't even gain him one more.

Who predicted this?  Lou predicted this!

DeS wants to remain relevant and viable in 2028.  This is the way he will do that.  He's a political animal.  And that's OK.  I like DeS.  He's my #1 pick in 2028, at this time.

Yes he will.  There are a lot of people who don't care for Trump, but like DeS.  DeS made a decent showing in the primary and they will vote for a T/DeS ticket.

Anyone that would have voted for him is already voting for Trump.  If they're unwilling to vote for Trump, they're unwilling to vote for Trump.  DeSantis as VP isn't going to change their minds.

Trump is best to listen To Clay and Buck and pick Kemp as his VP.

This is typical campaign rhetoric since day 1 of this great republic, and I think everyone involved realizes this. Personally for me, I don't believe all of what I read in the media, so I will accept what Trump goes with since he is in the thick of things.

Exactly. The whole 12 Amendment thing of the Founding Fathers in the United States Constitution.

A Trump + DeSantis 2024 ticket would have to find a path to 270 without Florida's 30 electoral votes.

That "path to 270 & Victory" doesn't exist without Florida's electoral votes - thus there is no way that Ron DeSantis will be Trump's VP in 2024.

Seems more of a move to patch up GOP after the toxicity - which hurt it - between the two.

Not a move for a VP imo,

He’s supporting his party.  If I were him I’d go no where near being the VP pick and wait my turn again in 2028.  Moreover, he technically can’t be VP unless you don’t care about Florida’s EC votes.

That would be remarkable, if true.

And not in the good way.

Trump is apparently taking a hard establishment turn, seemingly orchestrated by this bitch:

https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2024/04/26/susie-wiles-trump-desantis-profile-00149654

...which is 100% on Trump. It's his to lose, and he seems bent to do just that.

Trump will have to be pragmatic, and pick someone who will get him votes where he needs them the most. Not sure who that might be, but he won't make a "Pence" type mistake again.

Arguably pence wasn’t a mistake at the time when you’re considering that aspect of a VP role.
