It sounds like dudes who have them enjoy them so far

They do seem pretty tactical.

Plow discs not wheels. You drag a set of discs after plowing to break up dirt clods

I don't know what happened to mine but it looked like this, it was awsome for cooking nuts on steering and horn cutting day

Every gas station here sells them. Haven't had the desire. Have enough on the pool deck.

I am getting a convex comal and a Southwest Rio Grande discada for my birthday.  This is adding to my large paella pan and 18" lodge skillet.

Getting one tall burner and also adding legs to my low turkey fryer burner so I can have at least two cooking implements going at the same time.

Comal:

I think I need either cast iron or carbon steel for use over a fire, right?

Nice. I have this one, 18.9". You can put it in a fire pit, in a Weber without the grate, put a firebox or burner under it, etc. Some people get two and stack them like your picture. The legs are removeable.

Very timely. I cleaned up an old 23" plow disk this past weekend. Filled in the hole and added handles.  Seasoned it and plan on breaking it in after morning church for breakfast brunch this weekend.

Think I'll make 2 more, cool Christmas presents for my brother in laws.

I called it 'redneck wok'.

I made this about 10yrs ago when they were the hotness on the BBQ Forums.  I started with a large new disc from Agri-Supply.  I welded they square hole closed, rolled some strap for the rim, and added the "diving board" to the side to hold items warm that you dont want to overcook.  Its great for stir fry, bacon/eggs and with the sides great for deep frying fish etc.  It gets brought out every now and then.  Its somewhere in the shop.  I use it on the campfire or a single propane burner.

Over an open wood fire, that is probably best. Over a controllable gas fire or even big green egg/kamado joe which you can control draft (and the pan mostly covers the opening) you can probably get away with the thinner stainless. Might not get the sear of steel, more like a paella pan type of cook.

I halfway got the comal kit for the tall lid which I can use on my discada and paella pan.

Yes, been cooking on one for 5 years or so for camping and occasionally at home as well.

I have 2 now, a 20” and a 22”,  both from Southwest Disk with is a veteran owned/operated company out of New Mexico (IIRC).

I use an Eastman Outdoors adjustable 3 leg burner:

Chicken Pad Thai

Not pictured is the chicken carbonara that we also like to make while camping.

And of course there’s dessert:

Donuts

Bananas Foster

We make pretty ridiculous food for camping, but life’s too short to eat hotdogs and beans.

I'd go camping with you.

The more the merrier!

Just be aware you’ll probably end up fatter.

I made one that I leave at the hunt club as it's too large and heavy for anything I need camping and I have one of the Bayou Classics that I bought off Amazon when they were $28 that I occasionally carry camping or use at the house.
