Quoted: How is that disturbing? More people die a day in NYC than from this. Also, less yankees to move to the South. Pat Rogers, when he lived in NYC, had a family member die of heat stroke... NYC was taking days to come get bodies. This was during the heat wave they had. NYC is definitely the biggest bunch of pussy whiners and drama queens in this Country. Quoted: @Dan_Cooper You a doomer now? View Quote @joglee I've never been a flubro or a doomer. I've said from the get go that this is a very serious virus, not to be taken lightly, but that some of the reporting is overblown along with some of the government reaction. I've never believed that it will kill millions in this country, but it sure as hell ain't the flu. We could lose 100k, but I'm hopeful that all that has been done will make that number lower. Maybe half. Had nothing been done I think we could have lost several hundred thousand pretty easy. |

I am skeptical about stuff. This is scary though. This is one of those where I would be relieved if they were faking stuff, but I do not think they are. View Quote In places that it’s hitting hard, it's hitting really fucking hard. Where I’m at, it’s killed a lot of people over about the last three weeks. A whole lot more than have ever died of any other cause(or all other causes combined) over a comparable period of time since I’ve been in the medical fields here. I hope it’s a deal where some areas are going to have a rough time while most don’t really feel it but if everyone eventually gets it as bad as we have, it’s going to be really ugly. |

Hey guys.. We need an idea to keep the fear mongering effective.
I have an idea! Lets load bodies into a freezer truck in broad daylight on the street for the public to see! Fear mongering to the max! I don't know whats more disappointing.. The fact that the .gov is so quick to implement socialist policies or the stupid fucks in the public that are happy to trade freedom for socialism because it makes them feel safer. In case people haven't noticed.. The border controls and the hunting down of people from other states is effectively balkanizing the country. Do you think the .gov is going to release that power when the craziness subsides? I don't have faith in it. |

Quoted: On any given month, in the absence of C19, NYC has about 5000 people die. In the past month, about 1000 people have died with C19 in NYC. The vast majority of them already with the diseases and issues that make them part of the 5000. Edit- So, the real question is, what are their total numbers of death for the month. And what were their total numbers of deaths, in say, March of last year. If the population is about the same. If not, deaths per 1000 of the population. View Quote Comparative numbers for hot areas and the general US would be very interesting. That would be the gauge of how bad this REALLY is. |

I don't think this is the end of the world. It's not. But, it's not the flu. Go look at Italy. Their population is 60.48 million. The USA is 327.2 million. Take that ratio. It's 5.41. Yesterday Italy reported 12,248 deaths. Scaled to the US population that would be like 67,235 dying here. The vast majority of that in about a month. That ain't the flu. Why is GD so fucking retarded that it gets divided into two idiot camps - One side "It's the end of the world!" and the other side "It's the flu bro". Both equally stupid. |

Quoted: Looks like they are doing everything they can to make a spectacle of it. Anyone remember when Chicago was hit by a nasty heat wave and they were storing bodies on reefers? You don’t keep infected bodies in the standard morgue in the basement. Why is this hard to understand? |

So do they do this with the other dead people before the virus?
I mean, the article says 776 people have died from the virus, Im guessing in a city that size, 1000's of people die a day. So what happens with their bodies? |

The latest data I found after a quick search showed that in 2010, there were 52,575 deaths in NYC. So roughly 4,300 pet month if you want to average it out.
The number of deaths due to this virus is not taxing their system. Maybe in the way they are handling the bodies due to the no funeral mandate, but not the amount. |

What I don't get is why they are not digging mass graves and burying them like during the Spanish Flu Pandemic if it's all that bad.

Quoted: That's the City cremation services for the indigent and unclaimed bodies who have died in all five boroughs. Actually it's nothing new in Gotham City. View Quote Came to post this. NYC loses up to 300 a year in homeless alone. When the morgue in the hospital gets full, they have to remove them to the next caretakers, which would likely be further cold storage to find next of kin, then funeral services including crematories. Hence the casual attitude, same as we do not worrying over the 23,000 dead this season alone from the "normal" flu, which so far is 10X the pandemic. But, business as usual, amirite? Doomers being doomers in the news to create more panic to help Pelosi get more money for the Kennedy Center is a good thing.
