Was at my local bar talking and drinking and I asked if they had any GTS. We went to the back and found half a bottle. I sarcastically offered $160 for the half bottle and they said yes?????? I also picked up a bottle of Pig 12 for $100 also…. . Attached File |

Granted I don't go to bars much, but I did not know you could buy a whole bottle or half bottle to take with you. I've bought a whole bottle that we drank while there, just never took it with me. |

Well, both are phenomenal IMHO. I don't know which year GTS you got, but I've had two years and both were incredible (one was a lower proof year at 116, the other in the 120s). VERY dangerous as it is very smooth and very potent. But I'm more pleased that you got the WP Old World Rye. I picked up a bottle when they first released it. An outstanding bourbon. Not a high proof, but a very complex taste. Now I can't find it anywhere for less than $250/bottle. |

Good point, op. I've seen a few where I wondered if buying the number of pours in the bottle would be cheaper than secondary. My problem is them not allowing open containers off the premises here. |

If you know the bar tender anything’s possible. In my neck of the woods spirits can’t be sold in stores in Sundays. One Sunday evening we were in the middle of cooking this meal where Cognac was an essential ingredient. But we didn’t realize we were out of Cognac and it was Sunday. 😱 I saved the day by contacting my buddy and went up to the bar, who served me cup of cognac in my yeti cup….. which I then took back home to add to my Beef bourguignon. |

However, the local Liquor Barn has a tasting bar and I've often bought a bottle of something to share with others at the bar, and taken the rest home. They tape the top shut with electrical tape, same as they do the growlers of beers they have on tap, and that's worked. It may be up to the local police how they handle that, but here at least we can do that. |
