Damn, I didn't refill my 2 propane tanks I used last time. Tomorrow.

Great. I'm covering for the district manager that oversees LA/MS/AL/TN for the next 2 weeks so I'll get to deal with it no matter which way it goes.

Quoted: I got a text from them earlier saying that they are preparing and if you need electricity for life-sustaining equipment, make arraignments for alternative on-site backup View Quote Not sure about the googly eyes. That statement seems like something pretty reasonable. I have generators because I don't want food to spoil. If I had equipment that was responsible for keeping me, or anyone else, alive; I would not have to wait for something like this to think about it. It is sad the electric company has to even send something out like that for people to think about a backup. People R dum. |

Nah, Galveston will be on the clean side. Watch guys like Reed Timmer, not the mainstream meteorologist.
It’s going to intensify and hit Lake Charles head on. No doubt. Attached File |

Many local stores have already run out and won't get refilled before Wednesday. I still have 4 30lb cylinders ready to go. I should've already refilled these but I forgot about them. I'll check to see if the local fill station has any. |

Oh for fuck's sake. In my hood we were one of the few that didn't have a tree or three fall on the house. Lucky. But of all the unlucky ones none of them have started to rebuild. None. The insurance companies aren't paying out.

Hoping for some good rain here in central AR.
Looking forward to my in laws in Houston deciding last minute that they need to prepare. After 45 years of living in Houston they’re still always “not quite ready” |

I gotta get my generator to home switch wired tomorrow. We did mostly ok during beryl but i dont want to run a shit ton of cords everywhere again.

Time for another Geissele sponsored fund raiser featuring the GBT rifle.

Quoted: FWIW, tropical tidbits has the Euro and GFS models agreeing it's going to ruin Lake Charles's day, not ours. GFS has it hitting 965 in the Gulf. Looks like it may brush by on the way to Louisiana but seems rather uncertain , moving about 5mph now.

If yall can swing it , a whole house generator is worth every penny , IMO . Of course , anything mechanical can fail . My Kohler has paid for itself 3 times over . If it went tits up tomorrow I would replace it with another , no question .

My home generator was to be fixed on Wednesday, needs a new stator.
Karma has been a real bitch to me this last week, my home office flooded from a faulty plumbing repair and my insurance claim for roof damage from Beryl was rejected, and it sure looks like its going to keep on screwing me. |

Wonder if there is a place to post bets on if there will be a new CEO at CenterPoint in a month.

I hope that track changes because SW LA - Cameron, etc - is best LA. Great people, hard workers, and they've been hammered too many times recently with Rita, Ike, and then Laura almost wiped it out a few years ago.

Yep looks like it will mostly miss Texas except the east end of the coast.

Thank God I didn't buy that house on Trinity Bay.

Unfortunately for Louisiana it appears the storm will strengthen.

I saw this storm forecast on the GFS long range last week but the NWS didn't even recognize it a a viable system until it was already blowing up. There were 3 potential storms in the Atlantic, one of which has fizzled out, but nothing in the GOM at that time yet here we are.

Quoted: The amount and speed we are still removing standing dead shit around power lines all over the area and roads, I hope we stay on the clean side of this one. It never got done. |

Morning update on Tropical Storm Francine from the NHC in Miami, FL (September 9 , 2024) |

Quoted: Meh, the after storm response was what it should be. Where they failed big time is in their shameful lack of maintenance. There are trees tangled up in power lines everywhere. I travel all around Houston daily for work. It’s truly everywhere. This perception is the result of me seeing it with my own eyes every day. View Quote This I agree with. I have no idea why people and HOAs plant trees under the power lines along the street. Best case, the trees are trimmed properly and look like shit as a result. |

We have been very fortunate for the most part, this year with hurricanes. I do feel for those affected by them and hope/pray for the best.
