There is a slim chance I will be buying a surplus Swiss military vehicle that is in Nashville. Are there any hot shot truckers in Tennessee that could transport it to Calais? If this happens they wouldn't have to deal with crossing the border. I will either meet them there or they can drop it at the CBSA border crossing. I've reached out to a few trucking companies to get quotes but I haven't heard back and the auction ends Monday.. these are the specs on it. GVM: 4700 kg / 10362 lbs curb weight: 2,820 kg / 6,217 lbs length: 5350 mm / 17.55 feet wheelbase: 2300 mm / 7.55 feet + 1 metre / 3.28 feet. Possibly the spare tire with: 1930 mm / 6.3 feet height: 2170 mm / 7 feet |

I don't currently run enclosed but I have in the past. It's their discretion, of course, but the only dimension out of the ordinary is the height. A TRD Sequoia with the factory roof rack is just six inches shorter - I haul them all the time. Your dimension is no taller than any modestly lifted vehicle on the road. The issue for them is if they want to add other vehicles. An "oversized" affects load factor and limits what else fits. That's why trucks and vans cost more to ship. It costs more per mile to ship these three vans than it does to ship nine Corollas. Easy for me, expensive for the shipper: Attached File Each of these vans dwarfs the vehicle you described. I'm sure the person you spoke to had a dimensions list in front of them that they have to go by. |

I'm just a company dude but figure $2,500-$3,000. Cheapest in fall/winter because snowbirds are moving south and shippers need a back haul. This is for auto transport. One factor in driving up the price is that Calais is way off the beaten path. A hotshot with a flatbed will be cheaper. Probably. I could be entirely wrong. We have a broker on ARFCOM that could tell you exactly how wrong I am.  |
