Both of these statements are correct. 11.5" is best, and cans do get hot fast.

Make sure you don't ever set it down on a soft case or the like after shooting. I saw what happened when somebody did that once.

Yeah I shot a mag and half through it and went "oh its probably hot but not burn your skin hot."
