Lived in Japan for three years. I ate everything they put in front of me.... except miso. I could not make myself like it.
Glad you've got a recipe you like. |

Of course I am not the Food Police so if you like crap like that then "bless your little heart". |

I hiked up it, leading a Marine company… in uniform. They are a conquered people, and we have subjugated their soup. It was the most “American” tasting thing I ever ate. |

I think Miso soup is the best Asian soup out there.
So simple and good. A hot and sour is great also but that takes some pretty quality mushrooms to pull off. Pho is obviously a winner but that's almost strictly an out to eat thing. |

Funniest memory when I lived in Hawaii and my parents came for a visit. We went to the Windward mall for something to do. There's a Asian store on the second level that had all sorts of cheap Asian stuff. Small serving tongs, little plastic serving dishes to add soy and wassabi for sushi, sushi rolling mats, and musubi presses. You get the idea, so on this trip my mother found a brand of Miso paste with the label in Engrish, it was bad, like every 3rd word was wrong or misspelled. It was hilariously bad!

I love making miso soup.
It is my feel good meal, especially if it’s cold or I’m under the weather. It tastes like home to me. |
