Anyone here make their own decals?

If so would someone be willing to make a set for me in 1/35 scale?  Nothing crazy just some numbers and letters for an SH-60B aircraft.  I have the AoA set which is very nice but they do not have any decals for the squadrons I was part of.

I laser cut vinyl. Works pretty good for what it is.

Do you need white color in it?
There is white decal paper.  I have only used clear film paper.   But then you need to precisely cut the outline.
I have not tried to make any with my new Epson inkjet, so I don’t know how those inks work.   But I had a ton of trouble with my old canon printer.
Had to spray a clear coat on top of the water would just dissolve the ink.
I made a bunch of Maltese crosses for a small RC Fokker EIII   Nothing any more complicated than that.

I do know that if you're going to try to do color against a dark background or any color on any background there needs to be white behind the color so it doesn't show translucent. I learned that the hard way

This video shows someone creating decals (the water type) using a laser printer, white toner, and then clearcoating them.

I was under the impression the laser printers capable of using the white toner were very expensive

There used to be a series of printers called ALPS and they used a tape cartridge for color pigment.   They did have white color tapes (also metallic colors).   But I don’t know how possible it is to get new paint tape cartridges anymore.  That was like early 1990s tech.

Basically, just blueish gray letters and numbers.  SH-60B tactical markings.

Our aircraft from 2001.  The number markings are what I am looking to replicate.  I just have no printer and do not want to buy one just for this one thing.  I also talked with AOA who made a bunch of Sh-60B decals but they do not intend to make any other squadron markings (they have mostly west coast birds).

Post some good pics of what you want to get made and Ill see if my wife can do them.

She will need to know exactly what you want.  What numbers do you want, the actual letter size, color, font.

I'll see if I have any good pictures or at least some examples of the style of lettering.

I found the actual manual on PDF.  Could scan the letter and number patterns then just play with color and scale if that works, I could e-mail it to you.

There is a company called TLai Enterprises that makes a US Navy 30 degree font called LongBeach USN. It cost's around $20 and you can download it from their website https://www.tlai.com/med_des/lbusn.html They have a free demo version available but it is only a limited character set.

They also have a couple of fonts for USAF 45 degree letters and numbers called Amarillo USAF, and a set to do carrier deck numbers.
