Join the Army and go Airborne! You get tossed out of most planes before they get a chance to crash
Just to add some context, I was flying a chartered plane back from Egypt, flying over the Mediterranean and one of the engines caught fire...physically seeing that is...disconcerting. We turned around and my task force had to wait another 24 hours for a new plane.
I got to see tracers fly up at me in both a Chinook and C130 in Iraq. You're kind of helpless, hoping you don't get shot or shot down.
I was in a German CH53 Helo that took several rounds, nobody shot and we just Charlie-Miked.
My infamous "hard landing" crash in a Russian made Mi17 in Northern Afghanistan. It sucked, but I walked away (and flew away in another one
).
I still fly, and I don't like long flights, you just learn to deal with it and there are some things in life, be they necessary or convenience, you have little control over. Some of your favorite music and a stiff drink can help.
