For years, I had six lines coming into my house; including an ISDN.
Now, I'm down to two.

Our cell service can be spotty at times, so we maintain a landline.
4 phones in the living room, kitchen, and bedrooms.
The living room one is a corded model in case the power goes out.

One land line into the house so that we can use our 1940's rotary phone that we have in the dining room of our 110 year old house.
Still have the bell ringer box on wall also.
We have a modern cordless phone which is handy, but doesn't work whenever the power is out.

We don't own any cell phones. Wouldn't know how to use one if you handed it to me.

We still have a landline at our house with 3 phone on it, 2 of those are old rotary phones - one in the basement and one in the garage. I'm not THAT old but my dad worked for the phone company so there were always extra phones laying around.

Not sure if Ooma counts as a land line. It's a dedicated device but is still VOIP. $5/mo to use when my cell signal just won't cut it.

Two lines, consecutive numbers, voice and facsimile.

For conversations, cell phone is the last option.

Zero. For years we kept one just for Political calls, vinyl siding salesman, solar panel salesman, and Sara at card services to call us on; but then we decides it was best if they called us on our cellular phones. For the last due years we had a land line it would ring and we would just sit there and look at it waiting for it to stop ringing.

Zero, I kept my home phone until my dad was killed. He was the only person who ever used it and would not call my cell.

I had a land line for about 30+ years until last year when I dropped cable TV and the phone to save money, and went to cell phone only. My 81 year old Mom still has a "real" land line, not the digital ones like I had for a while with Time Warner/Spectrum that you'd lose if the power quit, killing the modem. Her neighbors will come over to use it when their cell service is down.

Have always had one. Because we rarely use it, and because of all the robo calls, I would like to disconnect it, but my wife also gets a vote. Getting into an argument over a phone I can ignore just isn't worth it.

One wired phone in the kitchen with the ringer turned off and no answering machine. I keep it for emergency use for my kids and stuff like bad weather where the phone lines might still be working after the power goes out.

We have a home phone #, its thru comcast, but its only(or to to call my cell when I loose it) used for the alarm system, which also uses a digital cell phone in the attic for backup.

We had a 1970 rotary dial that worked untill a few years ago, dont think it works with comcast

Obama. We just use our cell phones now. 95 percent of the calls on our landline were solicitors or robo so we axed it. Don’t miss it a bit.

One. When tornadoes hit us some years back there was no power at work for days. Cells were down. I was able to communicate with our customers and coordinate the production of their orders.

And it comes in handy when Social Security wants to contact me and tell me there has been suspicious activity in my account or Technical Assistance discovers a virus on my PC.

No. I live out in the sticks.

Landline became unreliable. Lost service a couple of days per month.

One month, it was out for the entire month.

That's when we had it discontinued. About 2 years ago.

BTW, we're in a dead spot for cell phones. Our phones work most of the time but will drop a call walking from one part of the house to the other.

Satellite is our only option for internet or TV.

Zero. When i remodeled i tore out the wires.

All the houses i have flipped had the wires tore out. Not one buyer ever said anything. Land lines are a thing of the past.

Clarification: A land line phone works over the PSTN and provides only phone service. It is not carried into your house via an internet or TV cable connection.
It is not derived from bundled service provided by your internet or TV provider.

It comes from the phone company, AT&T or one of the remaining Baby Bells.

Your connection point at the side of the house runs to a box sticking out of the earth, that looks like this or similar to it.

Or, if you're fed by aerial cable, instead of buried cable, it looks like this:

One line with 2 cordless phones hooked up. I still have a wired phone around somewhere. It's all through my FIOS. I prefer the land line more than my cell when at home.

That would be every time I visit my dad's house. He doesn't even have caller ID. And if you call him while he's on the phone, you actually get a busy signal.

I have an old black Bakelite one I bought for a few bucks at an antique store. It looked exactly like my grandmother's phone. Even had the phone number on a white sticker in the middle of the dial, just like hers. I may try to remake one with her phone number on it.

My plan was to set it up in my office, but we dropped our landline shortly after I bought it. I did test it, and it worked.

My land line service is an IP phone, plus I have another IP phone on my employers network.
