Higher level drug dealers as a general rule are not fighters when you kick in their door with a dozen feds... Low level street dealers will try and run. 99.9% of drunk people fight... All the drunk people I have dealt with over the years for one reason or another, have made a bad choice and wanted to fight. Most of the time you give them a chance to walk away, or get a cab and go home, yet they always want to fight with a half dozen cops, and after they are scraped up, bruised and bleeding, face down on the pavement wearing cuffs, then its "ok, you were right, I just want to go home, just take the cuffs off and I'll leave..." Well, its too late for that. Hard core real deal criminals like mafia guys and murder for hire types are normally gentlemen when presented with an arrest warrant and a handful of LE standing in front of them. to them its just business. Gang thug types with an audience will fight, and then when they are in the back of the car in cuffs, will cry like little kids. Gang thugs without an audience will be mouthy and talk a lot of smack, but as soon as you grab them and squeeze the courage out of them, they will turn around and will cuff up and talk smack the whole way to the office, and the whole time they are getting processed. So if you plan to work patrol, street crime, or in a gang unit in a shitty area, yea, you will want to have some experience with throwing down against people that have nothing to lose. If you work in Mayberry, U.S.A where your "busy" day will be arresting Carl and Scooter for the fourth time this year, for theft of service for leaving without paying at the local tractor supply, then you probably wont need those leather/lead sap gloves while on patrol... |
