My 2010 Shelby GT500 is $358 including $40 for a personalized plate.

My 2014 Fusion was like $170.

I / or at least someone [the original buyer] paid the gas guzzler $1000 tax, so WTF?

Runs about $400-500

You get shafted with property tax on anything somewhat new .

However even a cheap beater is like $100

Around $50 per personal vehicle.  The commercial tags for the company trucks (3/4 and 1 ton pickup trucks and vans) run about $125.

What’s stupid is the tags for my little utility trailer, thats only really good for hauling a motorcycle or riding lawnmower, costs the same.

Paid mine not long ago, think it was 8 dollars, went up from 6.50 cause of a special plate.

Edit:  Need to get my eyes checked.  I thought the post said "yearly car tag"  We don't have yearly tax.

Based on how many cars I see on the road with outdated tags, I think they just decided to be ungovernable and I am the only stupid sucker still paying.

The plates on my old daily driver expired in 2019. I got a new DD a few months ago and had to get new plates with the title change. I doubt I'll buy a new sticker for them next year.

I think the smog checks we have are bullshit, and I would trade that for safety inspections for sure.

Most of the cars and trucks I see at stoplights have bald tires, the brake pads are likely in even worse condition.

I don't give a fuck how it looks, as long as it can stop, have the two minimally required brake lights lit, and not slide into the traffic in the other direction.

Bonus points if the safety inspection violates morons that don't have their headlights / running lights set to illuminate properly.

My dash lights are on! I am sure everyone sees me!
