So no weather proofing apparently means there isn't any weather proofing. So used camera in some rain, never took the lens off till about 1 2 weeks later. Have some corrosion in there, would rather not pay for a CLA. So put into bulb mode, some rubbing alcohol and Q-tips?

Is that green copper oxidation? I’m assuming blowing it out with a rocket does nothing? |

Guess I'm better of sending it in for a CLA, as there seems to be more of that corrosion above the optical like light thing. This is rather annoying. Actually made it maybe worse with rubbing alcohol? No idea, sent a photo to YYE to see if it'll fall under a normal CLA so we'll see what they say. |

I would be VERY hesitant to use any form of liquid inside of a Leica. Try to "peck" it out using a dry Q-Tip. That doesn't work I would just bite the bullet and get the CLA done. You don't want to risk that crap getting into the shutter mechanism. DAG Leica will charge you $575 bucks plus shipping ($45 bucks IIRR). Better to spend that instead of risking something that could cost $4k to replace. Leica M6 "Classic" and TTL versions are only going up in price the past few years. I would use DAG over YYe for a M6. He doesn't do calibrations on the metering, if you're going to be without for a time you might as well get the full service. I've had DAG/Don Goldberg do both my M6's and been very happy. I asked YYe about the M6 and he told me he can only do the mechanical calibrations. Metering he doesn't do, he recommended DAG DAG Price List |
