Got an e-mail from my union looking for people interested in working on a steam-powered LNG tanker. I have all the certs/license I need to do so, going to send them my info and see what the deal is. I had not heard anything about this beforehand. Sounds like it's a little off in the future because they are telling people what training to take in order to get their certs. Not going to jump off my current job unless the money is a lot better, nothing worse than trying to train a bunch of clueless diesel engineers how a steam plant operates.

Heard back about that LNG job. Turns out the company is the worst one in the union (in how they treat people). They were apparently trying to man the ship using people from in-house, who had no prior LNG experience. That will end well. My info is being sent to them, I'll listen to what they have to say but probably won't be going over.

Just got the call one of our service techs was shot and killed this morning. He was having an affair with one of our installer’s mom’s. Her husband put a tracker on her car and caught them in bed. Shot and killed them both. |

I'm going to wait and see what is said, but I also had the thought that even if I don't want to sail with that company, I might be able to parlay my experience into a consultant position with them so I can tell them how badly their crews are fucking up and how to fix that.
