Something I heard last night and just looked it up... US Army Medical Corps.

From 1980 to 1994, Birx served as an active duty reserve officer in the United States Army.
From 1994 to 2008, Birx was active duty regular Army, achieving the rank of Colonel.

Yup, pretty impressive career.  She should be a poster child for the feminist's, but instead she is treated like crap because she stood on a stage next to orange man and wouldn't parrot the narrative.

She's still not bad looking for a mifl/gilf.

I'd consider it, but apparently she's just a shill for the trumptards

They tried to treat her like a punching bag on the sunday morning network talk shows.

Woman is unflappable and knows her shit. She did not fall into their traps.

Yeah I’ve posted that a few times. She used to work for my grandfather as a young medical officer at Walter Reed. She is top tier.

I don't doubt her credentials but that little girl voice of hers doesn't lend much credence. She needs to talk like women her age talk, for some reason that bothers me.

Fuck Walter Reed.  Except the grill at the cafeteria.  Those guys put out a great burger circa 1995.  Longest 2 Weeks of my life

Did I read somewhere that Medical Corps officers receive a promotion every five years, in lieu of all the bullshit everyone else endures?

Even if that were true, she would have went from 0-1 to 0-6 with a portion of them being in reserve, in decent fashion.

A quick search shows that doctors start as an O4 or O5 and possibly higher depending on their experience.

I think there have been some rare specialties (psychiatrist?) that have been direct commissioned as Colonel due to needs of the service over the past 20 years.

Of course, nobody beats William S. Knudsen.  He worked at Ford and then GM prior to WWII; in 1940, FDR asked him to come be Chairman of the Office of Production Management, then in January 1942 FDR commissioned him as a Lieutenant General   to be Director of Production, Office of the Undersecretary of War.   He resigned in 1945 and went back to civilian life.

Oh I didn’t start a thread or anything.

Just commented in one of the Fauci threads that my grandfather used to work with pretty much the entire White House corona task force, including being Birx’s boss when she was in the Army.

And then people were sorry my girl lost.

One of the Neurologists I worked for came in as a Full Bird. He liked to wear cowboy boots with his uniform.

and he got away with it because a court-martial panel requires officers senior in rank or in the same rank but senior in time of service, and nobody wanted to take a dozen COLs and GOs away from their day jobs to sit on a court-martial panel

Yep. It's actually rather difficult to fill some of those key positions. I mean, hey Doc come work for .gov/.mil and make 1/2 of what you might on the outside with the same skillset. Couple that I knew did it mostly because Uncle Sam was willing to pay off student debt for a certain amount of service.

I think that it is much more common for physicians to start at O-3.

Navy can direct commission medical up to Captain. They’ll come in for a few years and get some giant bonus. Pretty weird seeing a captain walk around base with just a national defense ribbon.
