I rocked Milspec for about 10 years then upgraded one of my AR's enough where the trigger had to go. I went with an MBT.  I was shocked I waited so long to do.  I had MBT's in all my AR's but one within a month.
My last AR has just sat in a safe, but I'm going to hunt with it this year and keep it as a backup HD rifle (different uppers).

Should I look beyond the MBT for my last trigger?  I've shot Geissele SSA triggers in my friends rifles and while they do feel marginally better, I didn't go for them because of the price and I love the wire EDM tool steel instead of cast (even though I admit this probably doesn't matter).  I don't think I'll consider something like RISE unless I'm missing something there.

What would you do?

I’d focus on acquiring more ARs.

I prefer the G2S over the MBT, when you can get it on sale.

LOL. Yeah, they tend to breed.  I've paired my collection down to 2 a couple of times (SBR and RECCE) but the parts are all just sitting there, waiting...

Look for a Schmid 2 stage in the $60-70 range.

I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I prefer the Geissele SDE for everything,  but for the price,  the MBT is pretty OK.

I'd pick up a Geissele for that last one just to have something different.

When I win the lottery I’m going Geissele SSA-Es on everything. ‘Til then the MBT is a solid option.

I have an MBT and like it but I think the SSA-E is slightly better. Grab one when they have the black Friday sale for best price.

I grabbed a couple of MBTs the last time there was a sale for $89 each.

Just put one in a PSA 300 BO kit.  Nice crisp 4.5lb break.

Milspec is trash.

LaRue = best value

If you're going to experiment, get a Geissele trigger in flat face

This

Although I’ve been putting SSP triggers in my .308’s

I have one Larue trigger that came bundled with one of his barrels, I don’t care for the wider bow

I have a lot of ARs. I standardized on the MBT awhile back. If I just had one, I suppose it’d have an SSAE. But if I just had one it’d be considerably more Gucci all around. The MBT strikes the best cost:benefit for me, and I prefer all my triggers to feel the same.

I will give LaRue credit, I do like the wider trigger face.

MBT is something I'd buy over an SSA

SD-E is just so much better

yup.

When I find a deal on a part, BCG, upper, I tend to start imagining another configuration I don't have, or a slight modification of one I do.

And during that thought exercise, I find myself wanting to start acquiring items from companies whose products I have never used simply out of curiosity.

It is a vicious cycle.

No, you should focus on not being a poor and buying a proper trigger with a G on it. Like the SSA-E.

I prefer Geissele over LaRue and i usually get the ssa-e for right around 150 or under most of the time. Just got one in sat from psa for said price.

Semi off topic, but will the MBT work in the Ruger SFAR?

This. The MBT will never be a negative factor in 99.9% of most shooters use but will work 100% of the time, with a great feel and control for not much money. I too have some Geissele, but there is dimished returns for your $$.

Psa has a single stage drop in for$89.
It's better than the mbt, in a side by side comparison.

Yeah, that's pretty much my plan, too.

I'm money isn't an object, the SSA-E is just a fantastic trigger. If you don't want to spend "G" money, the MBT is a great "budget" option.

I can't imagine it doesn't.

7.62 ARs take AR-15 FCGs and the SFAR should, too.

Geissele has triggers with wider face.

I was shooting an SSA-X last night.  It has the lightning bow.

I’d say the feel is between SSA and SSA-E

For hunting and if you are happy with them = continue with another MBT.

Maybe try the flat trigger?

Want to try something different = get the Geissele National Match - set it up how you like.

I'm 100% a fan of the Schmid Nickel coated GI triggers, and they are in pretty much everything I own.

I'll have to give their 2 stage a shot. Any direct comparison to the Larue MBT?

I have MBT-2S triggers in 6 or 7 of my AR's. One SSA-E in a 20" barreled  .308 AR. The SSA-E is a damn good trigger. The LaRue is a very good trigger for the $89 i paid for them when LaRue had the sale a few years ago.

Another for the MBT.

If I only had one or two AR’s I might consider something else.

But since I have a bunch between me and my family, which in the armorer for, they’re all standardized on the MBT flat face.

When they go on sale, I grab a few, they’re either kept as backups for a future build, or backups in case the SHTF so I have a spare.
