My advice to him? Get as much education as you can. Degrees, licenses, letters after your name. Focus and do it now before you have kids and a family. Good luck man.

Advise him to become a merchant mariner. If he works lots of overtime, he can be pulling in as much as $7,000 or $8,000 a month even as an apprentice. Further advise him to put most of that into savings. Within a couple years he's going to have a pretty good pile of cash. At that point he could start making wise investments. He can buy property. He can get into stocks. Below I'll link a video of a black guy who claims to have come from nothing and has managed to do quite well for himself doing what I discussed above:
