Thanks! He should get to about 45ish pounds we're thinking, based on his parents. It's been a long time since we had a baby, as we always adopt/rescue, but my wife has wanted one forever, so here we are, while we still have the energy and time to put in the work.

ETA I made an earlier inquiry in Arf about reputable, reliable, trustworthy "for profit" pet transport services. I already know there are tons of golden souls here that routinely work together for transport of rescues in dire need of assistance. If anyone is alternatively ever looking for a paid service they may need, don't hesitate to PM me for a referral, as we were blessed to find a truly good, caring, professional transport business.

Thanks. He's a good boy, and scary smart although I think most folks say that about their dogs and kids. My wife wanted one forever, and we're not getting any younger, so he's ours. His fur is pretty amazing, in that I too thought it would pick up everything, but thank God it doesn't since the outer coat kinda repels stuff if that makes any sense. Also he LOVES to be brushed, so I've got yet another daily chore added to the list.

He's definitely not gonna be our "let's go for a hike in the woods" dog, and more like the house guardian. They are known for being great watch dogs as far as being very, very vocal alerters, but they're not gonna kill the neighbors kid if they get out. I think the story line behind the breed is they supposedly guarded boats and barges in Europe. He's also very clean, and demands fresh potty pads and to go out often. Come to think about it, he may be the easiest to train we've encountered yet, and the only PITA he brings is the need to brush every day.

Here's just a random TY vid that shows how they should look and act as adults, in case anyone is interested.

Smaller dogs can be smart as hell. I had a Spitz that would WATCH a dog do a trick and then immediately do it herself. Crazy smart but a one person loyal dog to an extreme degree. Not mean or anything but didn't want anything to do wit anyone else when I was around. Great watch dog, she even tagged  the meter reader who bragged she got along with ANY dog and stupidly entered my fenced and gated back yard [pool] to read the electric meter. I razzed her for decades over that. 30 pound dog that thought it was the size of an elephant. Saved my kid when he was 1 and in a stroller though when the asshole behind me let out a great dane and it went after the wife and kid, got gutted but it kept the dog away from the wife and kid. She had to get sewn up because her intestines were hanging out the cut.

Yes we called the cops, and yes they paid the vet bills, and yes, I told both the owners and the cops if I ever saw it loose, I WOULD kill it. Period.

He's already learning "his job" at about six months of age now. When I go for dog walks, my wife says he starts barking about the time I get back onto our street, and well before I make it to our house. He's the most barking dog I've ever experienced. If one happens to dislike dogs that bark a lot, this breed is definitely not one to consider.

LOL, he keeps getting smarter too - scary smart to the point where he can do a pretty good job of being an asshole when he wants to. Dogs are better then 5 year olds at figuring out when they aren't getting the same ''treatment'' or ''goodies'' that the other ones do and they tend to ''vocalize'' about it in different ways.

Thank you. She was a remarkable dog. A parvo survivor, she was found in an abandoned warehouse in a city with a pack of puppies she just had, about starving. We got her from a Rescue that literally rescued her from that hell. I believe all her pups survived too. She was a quiet soul that never demanded too much attention - one of those dogs that was just happy to be in a pack, but probably quick to correct anyone that got outta line.  About a perfect dog really. I guess selfishly, but you never know, we waited as long as possible before the lymphoma finally took over.

Love me some zoomies!

This little man has his volume knob set at 11 pretty much 24/7, so we're looking forward to seeing, potentially, how chill he might finally be tonight.  That was a quick mile, and his little system has never been worked out like that before. I think he's about 9 or 10 months old, so IMHO it was finally time.
