You ever have a dream where you are in a car and find yourself jabbing your foot in your sleep to brake? This is what you want, to build a brake reflex for motorcycles, new riders tent to stomp on the rear brake and miss the front, front brake is around 70% of your braking so they skid into the vehicle ahead. Put the bike on a stand, sit on it and think "Brake!" and grab the front lever while hitting the rear, repeat untill it becomes instinctive. Just my two cents worth. |
Think of how stupid the average person is and realize half of them are stupider than that.

I was on a club ride, left the hotel leading a group of 5 of us and was getting on a freeway onramp to get to the good roads and saw it leap off of it’s mount as I got over into the exit lane…. I stopped at the end of the off ramp and a buddy ran up to get it, he came back with a stack of smashed circuit boards. Apparently, Garmin is pretty shit to deal with on this and don’t cover it. There was a quiet update to the mount at some point, my new one feels different when clicking into its mount. Best feature on these is the weather radar. I just don’t understand why they don’t make all of the features on a Zumo available in a cell phone app…. I mean, if I have to have a cell phone to get all of the features, why do I need to buy an expensive GPS and find a place on the bike to mount it when I’m already going to have a phone? |

I was in the parking garage at work rounding a corner when I met a car coming the other way that wasn't fully to his side. I panicked and grabbed the front brake and instantly went down. Luckily I was going slow so no injuries and very minimal damage to the bike (a few minor scratches and a broken turn signal). Lesson learned. |

The last 3 bikes I've bought have ABS and it has been very helpful a few times, even thought my braking skill level is pretty good. |

You can squeeze the front and go down now, or you can feather that rear and use the front as a rudder and hope you get back to where it's straight enough to get back on the throttle. |

It also depends on the brakes. I had Nissin brakes on a sport bike and thought they were good. Then I got a bike with Brembo and learned what good brakes really are. It's not just that they stop faster. What helps most is the feel through the lever that gives you the confidence to use the brakes so aggressively. |

That's a few levels above where I live. I've had a couple minor incidents ABS would have helped or saved. The most memorable was on my VTX and ended up with me rear ending an Expedition. Front kept locking up and I was so proud of myself for getting it back twice but by the third time SMACK. My headlight or the enclosure blew up and sounded like a damn gun shot. That was in 08 on Election day. Really seared in my brain
