I usually just carry an LCP while working in Chicago. Still alive. Oak Brook is upper middle class, you should be fine. |

Given that, there was a shooting at the mall last December which (at this point )is an anomaly. Try not to run over any of the panhandlers at 22nd and Rt 83. Illinois does not recognize any other states CCW. If you have an out of state CCW you can have a load gun with you in the car but not outside of it. Also, a lot of restaurants are posted and the signs are not just a suggestion.
Oak Brook is an upscale area and you will be fine there. There are a lot of nice restaurants in the area. |

 They had an "active shooter event" there back around Christmas. The rest of town is about as safe as a town can be. Mostly office space and restaurants. Used to be the bedroom community to the Italian mob guys. might still be. |
