It was a cape but it was split. Not vertical but one half was closer to the street when looking at the front. The front half had a front dormer and the really half had a rear dormer.

I ain't haven't not never seen one like that before

I find your lack of MS Paint disturbing.

That’s one hell of a sentence.
Edit, beat like a red headed step mule.

No idea WTH a cape or dormer is in regards to home design.

Looked at OP's location and realized I'm ok with that

When you are done with this banger of a thread, if you found it interesting, here’s one equally as interesting
(if you like playing CLUE to figure out WTF the OP is talking about):

That has to be an addition on the left.

That's the original house with a large addition out the side and back. Architecturally tone deaf but added a ton of space.

I would bet its actually 2 modifications. First was blow out the front of the roof to make the second floor usable floor space larger. Then the did the rear/left addition.

Go drive around cape cod and you will see all sorts of funky additions on 200 year old houses. that might have been 600 sqft when built.

edit this house is on Cape cod and has been in my family for 100 years, my distant cousins still live there. The first section of the house is 200 years old.

What it looks like from the street.

this is the best shot of the side/back I can get. Its 4 additions, one was blow out the second floor rear, next was a rear kitchen, then they added a second floor to the kitchen and finally they added a large addition on the rear
