I joined Great Expectations dating service years ago when I was in my early 30's, and it was funny to see the people that would ignore what you said you were looking for and would pick you to try and get a date. I'd get obese moms with multiple kids probably looking for a new Daddy for them. Dated a few cute women while with the service, but I notice a lot that wanted a handsome, well built guy and you'd look at the women's pics and they were the complete opposite of what they were looking for.

It is a tough time for midlife dating today, and there are a lot vulnerable educated women like me who are so desperate for love they are willing to try anything whatever the price. Back in 2010, I was personally recruited to interview for a “matchmaker” (sales) position at a high end matchmaking service in Dallas. They had an entirely female staff for every position, including the sales team. Based on customer reviews, they found they needed a male on sales staff, as many of their clients would end up having personal issues with their female matchmaker (every sales gal was hot as can be).
I did a day of observation and figured out really quick: 1) the men they got signed up for potential matches all were sold by the uber hot sales gals. Wealthy, successful guys like young hot gals. 2) women that can afford to pay $10k+ for matchmaking services, and are willing to do so, generally aren’t ideal mates for wealthy, successful men. (Because they look and act like the woman pictured) Very big hustle, lots of money to be made making these guys believe they’d be matched with hot gals, and lots of money to be made setting up dates for the single, financially successful but lonely (haggard) ladies. I did not take the job. The money was enticing, but not enough to deal with the drama. Eta: the guys should have just bought hookers, as they at least would have received what they thought they were buying. And the gals just needed to realize they are not the amazing catch they saw themselves as, and needed to lower their expectations. |

Yep. I’ve seen that happen in men too. Dating a nice, polite woman who was respectful, kept the house clean, cooked, enjoyed many of the same activities, but wasn’t “exciting enough”. He even said his sex life was good. But she was “boring”. So he ditched her and found himself a woman with whom he could have domestic violence incidents (that cost him his career) and a messy divorce. At least she wasn’t boring, I guess. She was his 3rd wife. First and second weren’t much different. Said he just wanted a good woman... View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I love her line about the barrister she dated being "prickly and aggressive."
A prickly and aggressive litigator? Who would have believed that? |

Small chest, no muscle tone, baggy skin, and the face of a man that's smoked and spent his days in too much sun.... and she can't get elite men?
I'm shocked. I was going to make the "I'm sure she has a sweet personality" joke, but I imagine she doesn't. Because I've seen much uglier women get surprisingly decent men. It's not just physical, I'm betting there's something wrong with *her*. But then again, that's who uses dating agencies.... a bunch of 4's looking for 9's or 10's. |
