"I have a $1500 helmet but no other ear-pro. Should I just buy a set of $30 ear muffler or wear my $1500 helmet so people think I'm an operator?"
Buy a set of normal ear pro. Save the helmet for when you're patrolling your HOA while wearing NODs. |

Get second set of hearing protection. You'll need some eventually anyway.
Side note.. it's good to wear hearing protection when you run certain equipment around the house as well. Do you put the helmet on to weedeat too?

MUCH more affordable tactical helmet (fully endorsed by Delta Force - I saw it in a real war movie, Blackhawk Down).
I wear it while operating in an urban environment on my mountain bike (or skateboard, for clandestine missions). Haven’t fallen on my head yet, but I know it’s the real deal so I’m not scared. 40 bucks at Academy Sports + Outdoors. (I love shopping at Academy because, Academy? Duh, ‘military’ Academy - gotta love the real deal) Get one! Be real!  Attached FileHaven’t worn it to the indoor range yet because I didn’t want to make those around me feel inferior or intimidated, but this thread just reminded me I shouldn’t care about the peons anymore. I’ll be wearing it while shooting/operating from now on. Better safe than sorry. OP, if you seriously spent $1,500 on a helmet, but you’ve never spent 15 bucks on a pair of earmuffs, you truly are a fucking idiot.
