They'll surely be properly maintained and continue functioning for decades to come.

The AK’s popularity has always been its price. Now there’s not a cheap new AK in mass production in Russia, the US, or the ME.
It’s become a boutique rifle in the US market and much of the world. The rifles are expensive, the parts are expensive, they’re extra labor to make and maintain, and literally everything but ammo is cheaper for an AR. The AK sucks from an engineering standpoint based on current technology. |

Not even the majestic Boris can make an AR from a shit shovel.
Therefore AK-74M is best! |
|
Quoted: We'll see what they are using in 1-2 years. The AK was never about a superior gun when new/clean/well maintained. The AK (like most Russian designs) is all about running when it has been treated to the dirtiest, nastiest conditions imaginable with "maintenance" consisting of knocking the barrel against your sandal to get some of the sand out of the barrel. View Quote Call it 30 years, the Soviets left a long time ago. People here also have a tendency to compare mid 1950's era AKMs to much newer versions of the AR, as though the AK hadn't also evolved over that time. |

Come on guys. Give it time, they don't know, have the time, or have dental picks to clean a DI. It'll jam on them in a few months and they'll go back to their bazar for AKs. Hell, with all the 556 ammo we left them you'll see them with 556 AKs soon enough.

We should have left some “salted” ammo in strategically unguarded locations there.

Quoted: Perhaps they did. We probably won't find out about it if they did. Regardless I would be willing to bet that most of their ammo is coming direct from ANP and Army stockpiles. View Quote A few weddings later, they'll be buying cheap Russian ammo. Those are good for maybe 2000 rounds? |

I love AKs and have multiple, but there’s never been any question in my mind as to the superiority of the AR.

Everybody likes new, free shit.
Wait until they get their hands on some of those goofy 5.8mm Chinese bullpups... |

View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: The good thing for the Taliban we left them warehouses of 5.56 ammo, probably M855A1 too. So I guess all of their feed ramps will be chewed up in a short amount of time. It would actually be funny to see them troubleshoot those issues. There is some 300blk around as well from what I understand. That might get interesting. |

They are using ARs for BBQ guns, nice and shiny. Also good for photo ops of Yankee equipment. They will take the old dirty AK on a heartbeat if they have to go out in the mud.

Quoted: Quoted: Norinco makes AR15s - they could supply them with any spare parts they need I'd like to try one out. I've wanted to Gucci-out a Norinco with high-end aftermarket parts (rail, selector, CH etc) - but then ARs got b& They were very competitively priced in the budget segment. |

If youre not using the sights & relying on the supernatural does it matter what rifle is more accurate... They should stick to what they know...
