If we are talking about cold, lunchmeat sandwiches,  then yes,  no-one holds a candle to CT delis.  Hot sandwiches,  however,  is where they let down somewhat.

Perhaps. But to find the best sandwich, you should download the app for your smartphone that helps you find the best sandwich in your area. It's called Grindr, and you can go on there and fill out your profile. You should specify that you're looking for at least six inches long and a lot of meat. Make sure to let us know how the sandwich search goes.

Some junk looking sandwiches in this thread, and what kind of restaurants do you people go to that are too lazy to put ketchup on your phillies?

A good sandwhich:
a slice of harvest grain bread, mayo the inside
lay down some salsalito turkey*, dash of tabasco sauce
slice of kraft american cheese
lay down some more salsalito turkey
slice of kraft american cheese
a few slices of small/medium diameter tomato slices
a couple of leafs of romaine lettuce
a slice of harvest grain bread, mayo the inside
cut diagonal

serve with:
a glass of water or 2% milk
a handful of lays baked potato chips
two vlasic kosher dill pickle spears
two chips ahoy chocolate chip cookies

*You can get Boar's Head but Publix brand is just as good.

Grinder sounds like some drink chic giving me head in the bar parking lot

SUB's!!!!!

Nothing like a NY & NJ sub, in Philly they call them hoagies. The best pizza, subs & cheese steaks come from the tri state area of ny, nj, pa

Try a Jersey Mike's sub they are everywhere in the US

Except a NY-style pizza has several defining features that differentiate it from "normal" pizza

I'm from CT

1. I don't call that a grinder I call it a wedge.

2. That bread looks like CRAP

3 Who ever make that Italian combo is a fucktard

In general we do have some excellent delis around here. That sandwich clearly didnt come from one of them. That looks like some garbage you would get from a Subway in florida lol

Went there last year and I wasn't impressed. The wait to get in was ridiculous, the seating sucked, the pastrami wasn't good at all. I'd eat at Arby's before I went back to that craptastic place.

Grinder: The term "Grinder" can be traced back to the East Coast where during World War I Italian immigrants set up sandwich shops close to the shipyards. Their freshly backed Italian rolls were filled with generous amounts of meats and cheeses, and were then baked and garnished with lettuce and tomatoes. These super-sized sandwiches were a favorite of the hard working men who ground off rivets on the metal warships. The friendly shop owners referred to these men as grinders, and the ever popular sandwiches also came to be known as GRINDERS

And the best grinder in the state of RI is at Natale's Deli near Rt 2 and Frenchtown Rd. Get the Italian grinder, it's freaking awesome...

Gotcha covered down here is south Florida. I worked with at a company that was mainly Cubans and Puerto Ricans. We had some of the most awesome pot luck lunches EVER!.

AND every morning and afternoon one of the beautiful Cuban women would make Cuban coffee for everyone. Yum. I got kinda spoiled there.

Hell, I'll go a little further and say New Haven Apizza is best pizza.  Although now that we have discussed rinders and pizza, nothing else is even remotely good about this state.

And never in 30 years have I ever hear anyone refer to any food as a wedge except a salad...

LOL, mayo on an italian hoagie? Uh, no.

While that sandwich is definitely not terrible, it would only measure as mediocre here in the mecca of sandwiches (Philadelphia).

Italian Roast Pork w/brocoli rabe and long hots on a Sarcone's seeded roll...would clearly stomp the Ct. grinder.
