Guess you've never had a good Philly then? Or Po'boy? Or Reuben? Or Patty melt? 'Cause all those are better than that shit. |

If we are talking about cold, lunchmeat sandwiches, then yes, no-one holds a candle to CT delis. Hot sandwiches, however, is where they let down somewhat.

Some junk looking sandwiches in this thread, and what kind of restaurants do you people go to that are too lazy to put ketchup on your phillies? A good sandwhich: a slice of harvest grain bread, mayo the inside lay down some salsalito turkey*, dash of tabasco sauce slice of kraft american cheese lay down some more salsalito turkey slice of kraft american cheese a few slices of small/medium diameter tomato slices a couple of leafs of romaine lettuce a slice of harvest grain bread, mayo the inside cut diagonal serve with: a glass of water or 2% milk a handful of lays baked potato chips two vlasic kosher dill pickle spears two chips ahoy chocolate chip cookies *You can get Boar's Head but Publix brand is just as good. Growing up, I’d say top 5. The Italian deli’s have been disappearing, but there are still some great ones around.

I don’t know what the best sandwich is but I have always wanted to try a Rueben from Katz deli in New York. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/263282/22E3E9F6-F2CB-4FF1-99E3-995BDFC69F7D-393312.JPG View Quote Grinder: The term "Grinder" can be traced back to the East Coast where during World War I Italian immigrants set up sandwich shops close to the shipyards. Their freshly backed Italian rolls were filled with generous amounts of meats and cheeses, and were then baked and garnished with lettuce and tomatoes. These super-sized sandwiches were a favorite of the hard working men who ground off rivets on the metal warships. The friendly shop owners referred to these men as grinders, and the ever popular sandwiches also came to be known as GRINDERS And the best grinder in the state of RI is at Natale's Deli near Rt 2 and Frenchtown Rd. Get the Italian grinder, it's freaking awesome... |

Hell, I'll go a little further and say New Haven Apizza is best pizza. Although now that we have discussed rinders and pizza, nothing else is even remotely good about this state.
And never in 30 years have I ever hear anyone refer to any food as a wedge except a salad... |

Italian Roast Pork w/brocoli rabe and long hots on a Sarcone's seeded roll...would clearly stomp the Ct. grinder. |

WTF is a Conn style grinder?
Is this a Jerry Sandusky kinda thing? |

I have had a lot of truly great sammiches
and an Italian Combo with "everything" from Nardellis in CT is pretty damn good and deserves a place on the list. |

Geez,I don't know about "the best" but I've yet to see anything in this thread I wouldn't happily chow down on.

I could not choose a best.
Current favorite cold cut is the Italian. Specifically from creekside deli here in JH. Attached File |
