I haven’t done a search, so please forgive me if this has been answered already, but just wondering if this would be a decent 3-D printer for just doing basic stuff. Nothing gun related or anything complex. Flash Forge |

They are reasonably capable, you can print parts for a DIY enclosure (using their kit for clear panels, door & lid). I built a replacement side panel with heater enclosure for active heating on mine. A weak point is the cable attachment to the screen. It can be tricky to get installed (It is part of the initial assembly). It is easy to inadvertently dislodge the screen if you aren't careful & pull the cable loose when the screen drops. If unlucky the cable socket latch pops loose or breaks & you have issues getting the cable seated again. There is actually a model out there to replace/suppliment a broken latch. Moral to the story is be paranoid about unintentional screen movement. Mine is on my lan but blocked from internet access by a router rule. I don't allow automatic updates. You need to pick the firmware version you want to use based on which seem least likely to cause issues. Do some online research on the versions to avoid gotcha's. |
