I feel you.  I am extremely distraught as well.  As a child I grew up with both Israeli and Iranian babysitters.  My best friend was Jewish and was babysat by the same Iranians.  They showed us nothing but love.  He was an Iranian athlete and friend of the Shaw.

My heart is troubled.  What has been done is horrific and I have always been a vocal supporter of Israel.

And still am.

But I don’t want hate in my heart.  I do not want the love of man to go cold in me.

May the Holy Spirit guide us.

May his Kingdom come.
May his will be done.

Jordan is making sure they maintain control of their border.  King Abdullah is not a fool and doesn't play stupid games, which makes him a standout among Arab leaders.   Besides being both a qualified military pilot and a "no shit' British-trained special forces officer, he is of Bedouin stock and not truly Arab, and is one of the few hereditary leaders in the region who will die in bed at a ripe old age with no secession issues.  Jordan does not need and does not desire any shenanigans along any of it's borders; this includes Hamas or Hezbollah trying to open a second front from Jordanian territory.  The origin of the tolerance with Israel goes back to the "Black September" uprising by Pally refugees that nearly overthrew his father, King Hussein, and the hard-core response from the Jordanian Army (formerly the British-trained Arab Legion, where Hussein had served as an officer prior to ascending to the throne), kind of "blacklisted" the Jordanian monarchy among the denizens of the so-called "Arab Street".  By reinforcing the Jordanian Army to the Israeli border (which no other Arab leaders can really object to), his forces are in close proximity in case things go sideways in the West Bank, and they are out of their barracks and in their combat-loaded tanks and tracks so they can pivot to the Syria in case one of the numerous groups operating there decides to get froggy.

Not yet that I can see, but they've been doing that stuff all over the area around Gaza.

I was in Jordan earlier this year.  From memory there are three border crossings with Israel.  Only the middle one is through the West Bank.

I am not a Jew, but I do feel a common bond.  My grandmother worked for a Jewish family up north before she was married, and that cultural connection remained and was passed down to me.

Something broke in the system that allowed that many people through the fence on the initial outbreak. I have heard it said it was five hours before the security forces/military meaningfully responded at an appropriate level.

RN we don't know what happened. Just that something happened. So of course people will theorycraft on no or dubious evidence and try to push their theory.

As for grabbing people ... I have heard they have tunnels everywhere and have been digging them for decades. This is not the first time I have heard of them unexpectedly grabbing people.

Agreed. But probably lots of support personnel and troops caught in barracks etc. who never got a chance to get into the fight. It really is a scandal for Israel to have troops chilling on the border with Gaza in condition white but they got caught with their pants down.
