No kidding. Or Corinthians. Or the parable of the Good Samaritan

Or Mathew 15:11 or mark 7:15. It would be a rationalization to say food is a sin not the other way around

Christianity is a spiritual religion not a material one

As with Peter's vision in Acts, Mark 7 also has nothing to do with dietary laws.

Mark 7 is addressing the traditions of men being elevated above the law by hypocritical leaders.

Specifically calling out their assertion that ritual hand washing (which is not in the law) was being used to condemn the apostles for breaking the law.  Which they weren't.  They were eating bread.

The bs line "declared all foods clean" is not in the text.  It was added as gloss by translators a long time after.

Sorry for thread drift.

Eh... I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

The US military can most likely achieve air superiority and conduct air strikes in Iran fairly efficiently.

The US military is also too damn small too effectively invade and defeat a nation of Iran's size on the ground.

The really speculative part is that, as others have said, I don't think it's necessary to send in ground troops. Hit enough of the right guys with cruise missiles and air strikes, and you can decapitate the regime. There are enough people in Iran that don't like who is in charge that good things could happen.

While we should always be mindful of second and third order effects and unforeseen consequences, I'm not sure things could really get much worse regarding Iran. They are extremely hostile to us and our allies, they've killed thousands of Americans, they've been very methodical, they keep getting stronger, and we haven't done a damn thing about it.

B2s should have been flying into Tehran starting sometime between 2004-2008, and what we see now are the consequences of that not happening.

Syria (or what remains of it) is not going to get involved in this. That's kind of the point of my post... They're responding to Israel's airstrikes by bombing....Idlib, which is the last HTS stronghold in the country and is an area they've been bombing consistently for years.

The possibility of paratroopers jumping in and securing some of the bridges is a very remote possibility but again, we don't have the assets to jump two divisions all at once.  The build up would be too obvious and they would just blow the bridges before we got there.

A ground invasion of Iran will mean a draft.

War with Iran would be destroying military and oil infrastructure and then sitting back to see what happens.

A draft would be political suicide for the party that enacts it. I don't think they'll ever be a draft again barring a true end of the world Armageddon tens of hundreds of millions of people dying kind of thing maybe.

With the amount of young people (I fall into this category) who are obese, use recreational drugs, and are on various psychiatric medication, a draft would be an absolute shitshow even discounting the political fallout.

A better question is "Why aren't we retaliating against IRAN?"

Iran is the source of all of this death in the last 20 years.  Why not decapitate the head of the snake.

The US is afraid of Iran.

Does anyone seriously think we have the resources in place, right now, to attack Iran?

100 miles west for me.  Did you see where four of those assets have been placed in the UK?
