This hospital explosion may have stalled any potential ground assault for days if not weeks. Not sure if Israel is ready for the international blow back that will come when more civilian casualties pile up with Hamas using them as shields and fodder for their cause. Ill bet Bidens knees got a little weak from the "full" support he originally promised. Instead he may just try to buy off Israel with $20-30 billion in a jumbo aid and defense package when another dozen billion snuck in there for Ukraine as well.

Makes no sense. the naval assets of interest are the many hundreds of standard missiles and four per launch cell essm present in the cg and ddg in the carrier strike groups. with two Ticonderoga class and six or more Arleigh Burke class, you're looking at a bunch. 122 launch cells on the cg, 90 or 96 on a ddg. so 244+540 assuming the smaller numbers. 784 missiles, and that's not accounting for the four per cell essm that would be super useful right now. a fuckton of missiles, in other words. and that's ignoring the missiles hanging on the wings of whatever the Navy puts in the air. all longer range than the Iron Dome interceptors, and the radars can see farther, and the airborne radars can probably see all the way into Iran from their orbits. not sure about that last part. edit to add: IDF has their own artillery and missiles for ground attack. the Navy ships have a mix of missiles, some intended for antiship, some for anti ballistic missile (Star Wars), but most are to intercept incoming missiles or aircraft at various ranges. that last type is why they are there - Hezbollah may have 100,000 missiles but they are all small and short range. the big stuff potentially coming from Iran (remember they put up their own satellites? that means they have ICBM capability, which also means intermediate and theater ballistic missiles are doable for Iran) potentially with nukes are why those ships are there. |
