We only got cable with channels 2-13. Basic networks, plus TBS and another Atlanta station that had lots of cartoons.

I wasn't home on the couch in 1985.  I'd be surprised if I watched 100 hours of TV the whole year combined.

I was in a couple of back to back pretty difficult Navy tech schools. I didn't watch a ton of TV, but do remember watching GI Joe with the guys from C School. Shipwreck FTMFW.

My dad used to do a ton of cable tv trade shows back then.   He knew that I had a crush on her and got an autographed picture of her for me.  Still have it around here somewhere.

Salt Lake back in the day was
2 - KUTV - NBC
4 - KTVX - ABC
5 - KSL - CBS
7 - PBS - Univ. of Utah
11 - PBS - BYU
20 UHF - KSTU - Independent

Later on, 2 & 5 switched networks, so that CBS is on channel 2. and NBC on channel 5. Then KSTU moved off UHF to Channel 13 VHF, and became Fox in about 1988. Around that time, KJZZ Channel 14 came into existence owned by Larry Miller of the Utah Jazz. They eventually affiliated with PAX TV, and then became a CW network channel. That's not right. Forgot about channel 30 UHF that came on after 14. It was the WB, then CW. It's still on digital channel 30.

I can't think of any others, it was pretty sparse.

My dad somehow got a hold of a de-scrambler somewhere in the mid to late 80's.  Small homemade looking box with a switch on it.  Flip the switch and boom everything came it even the Playboy channel...

I always wondered how that thing worked.  I bet it was stupid simple back then.  I think some kids could get channels unscrambled by putting the selector between channels or something.

On the weekdays, Channel 11 KTTV

Saturday mornings, I'd bounce between Channel 4 KNBC, Channel 7 KABC and Channel 9 KTLA.

I was still all about the cartoons back then. No cable, though.
