There are direct flights to Petropvlosk from Anchorage, I thought cool, I'l there to check out the sub base, go fish and prospecting on the Kamchatka Peninsula.

Satellite images of the naval base in Vilyuchinsk, Kamchatka, confirm that Russian nuclear submarines have left the base in turn within several days. The latest photographic evidence received from the Sentinel-2 spacecraft was made on November 23, 2021.
While I realize once at sea the sub can go anywhere but with satellites monitoring everything I have always wondered why they do not try to hide their departure. Why not dredge a port deep enough that the sub can simply submerge while under cover and set sail without a sat picking it up. |

I'm sure the resident pravda corps will be along shortly to discredit the cited source and inform eveyone that the Russian Navy is a complete joke and hardly worth worrying about, and believing such reports is unpatriotic because jt means you swallowed the enemy propeganda. These are the same soothing reassurances they give every time somebody reports that China is ramping things up.
There are an awful lot of things not actually happening that they need to reassure me are no big deal, lately. I'm in my 40s and I can't remember anything like this. |
