Sitting here watching a program on Jim Jones and the Jonestown massacre in 1978 (918 people committed suicide or murdered).  I've always been interested in the history of Jim Jones and the Jonestown massacre.  When I was young, I remember people talking about it with horror even though it had happened when I was too young to know what was going on.  I'm fascinated by the parallels to today.  The similarities between BLM/ANTIFA and Jim Jones and his People's Temple are uncanny.  Around 70% of the dead at Jonestown were black.

Jim Jones was a Marxist/Communist.

BLM and ANTIFA are Marxist/Communist

Jim Jones was friends with many names you would recognize today.

He was a stoned power tripping freak wrapped in a false gospel. He was whatever you wanted him to be.

Promoted what is more fairly called a non Marxist socialism, like the anarchistic cooperative model

Drugged up charisma is what you got in the 70s.

Nothing similar to BLM or antifa.

Actually...it's almost indistinguishable from BLM/ANTIFA.  Same ideology....different means to a similar end.  Jim Jones used religion to get the power he wanted.  BLM/ANTIFA use the religion of "Black Lives Matter" to get the power they want.  Both Jim Jones and BLM/ANTIFA leaders use SJW tactics to achieve their goals.  Both Jim Jones and BLM/ANTIFA manipulate black people to accomplish their goals.  Both don't have a problem killing black people to accomplish their goals.  That's what makes the above sign so ironic.  We are seeing history repeat itself.

Jim Jones was absolutely a Marxist/Communist.  Read his writings and listen to his speeches.

“I shall call myself a Marxist, because no one taught me my brand of Marxism. I read, I listened.”

"It seemed gross to me that one human being would have so much more than another," Jones recounted. "I couldn’t come to terms with capitalism in any way."

“I decided, how can I demonstrate my Marxism? The thought was ‘infiltrate the church.’ I consciously made a decision to look into that prospect.”

“In the early years I approached Christendom from a communal standpoint with only intermittent mention of my Marxist views. However in later years there was not ever a person who attended my meetings that did not hear me say I was a Communist. And that is what is very strange that all these years I survived without being exposed.”

"In just 40 years’ time, Communism has arisen. It’s a challenge to God’s people. It has its own Bible, dialectic materialism. It has its Messiah, Karl Marx. It has its prophets, the Khrushchevs …you don’t want to write him off. Don’t want to write him off, because certainly he’s a talented man of great ability, and the Soviets are way beyond us in scope, beyond our imagination in scientific development.”

"We would like to look for critical reviews, at one insider’s view of the Communist Party USA. In order for fascism to be avoided, there has to be a strong communist party, a strong socialist movement, and free, independent strong trade union [unions], none of which exist in USA, and that is why to avoid your utter destruction, materially most of you, and murder of the rest, I brought you here to regroup, recoup, rehabilitate and gain strength, and militancy, and a proper education in Marxist-Leninism, which you had never picked up, even though I was avowedly, openly Marxist-Leninist and atheist, you have never picked it up, for the most part, in the United States, except for a handful."

“The United States has always had to have a war or a depression. I tell you, we’re in danger tonight, from a corporate dictatorship. We’re in danger from a great fascist state … and if we don’t build a utopian society, build an egalitarian society, we’re going to be in trouble.”

"Capitalism, the oppressive racism, that is your enemy, and they know your every move.”

Sound familar?

Look at what some well known people said about him:

Assemblyman Willie Brown of San Francisco continued to show his support for Jim Jones. Brown said on November 22, 1978 that he had “‘no regrets’” about his “‘past associations’” with Jones.

Jesse Jackson maintained a positive view of Jones, arguing that Reverend Jones was a man who “‘worked for the people’” and that he would defend Jones “‘until all the facts were in.’” Jackson stated, “Jones felt great concern for the locked out, for the despaired, for the handicapped, for the minorities … and that impressed me. As a result of that, he attracted a great following, and I would hope that all of the good he did will not be discounted because of this tremendous tragedy.’”

There is no single jim jones leader on the leftist side, but there is on the right side. There is a lot of blind devotion and anger on both sides and no room for discussion.

OP, you NEED to check out Darryl Cooper’s “Martyr Made” podcast. He has a multi-part series on Jim Jones called “God’s Socialist.” He spends hours and hours discussing the great migration of the early 20th century, the growth and evolution of the civil rights movement, the violent Marxists of the Weather Underground and Black Panthers, and the evolution of Jim Jones from radical, charismatic Marxist to CRAZY Marxist.

I’d agree with your first statement to some extent. There are a whole lot of mini Jim Jones on the leftist side. Perhaps not as charismatic but certainly just as radical.....if not more so.

To compare the conservatives as blindly led by one leader (I assume you mean President Trump) is laughable.

One cannot have a rational discussion with those who have a sole goal of your destruction and subjugation. Conservatives would like to convince others of their views. Radical liberals would like to kill anyone who disagrees with them.

What’s amazing is not that the radical leftists can’t see the logical conclusion of their ideology. It’s that the moderates can’t see it. We have influential people on the leftists side OPENLY calling for the killing of anyone who doesn’t support their side....and hardly anyone even notices.

Jim Jones simply carried the ideology of socialism to its logical conclusion.

Pretty much agree. People on this board who hate or don't like trump love calling those of us who support him trumptards and that we have stars in our eyes. I think we just see the alternate is so crazy, how can you not support him. We know he's a dick and does shit like bumb stock bans, shovel more money into the furnace than Obama and so on. But if the Dems now gain power it will be Obama x10.

Leftists - like Jim Jones - have no brake. The more radical elements will fight each other to be more radical. Antifa and BLM are just like that with a side of racist division.

The stories of the SF and California Dems who now deny ever knowing Jim Jones are hilarious.
