This was definitely one of those cases where we got whiplash trying to figure it out. The whole thing sounded fishy from the start, but every time you turned around one side or the other was making stuff up or telling you someone else was lying and since all of it was from supposedly official sources we just had to sift and guess for a while. To be honest, I'm still not sure how I feel about the case. I don't believe the neighbor. I don't believe the officers. I don't believe the department and I sure as hell don't believe the media. So basically I'm left with what I assume are a bunch of liars lying about each other and as far as I can tell, no one I have any reason to believe was truly innocent got hurt. Eventually my conclusion was, "I don't know who's lying the least, and I don't care, they all f'd up and found out and compared to the other issues going on right now it's insignificant."

I prosecuted cases mostly brought to me by one agency. It's a larger municipal agency with (then) a very good budget. We had about a year there where our DUI stops were hit or miss on if there were cameras. When it came down to it, the DUI unit was able spend money on new cars or new cameras. So they spent the money on cars and were able to eventually get cameras in all their cars.

I didn't read most of this thread. But of the really stupid posts I read, it is clear most of you have zero understanding of government budgets or how the law works.

I have a liberal, black, female attorney friend. We were prosecutors together many years ago. She said "good shoot" as soon as actual information came out about this one. But you guys keep on keeping on.

No, I only posted those because the Leftist governing entities which approved the settlements were extremely quick to settle only because it fit their political narrative, and, it follows their pattern of urban reparations.  Those settlements had nothing to do with the merits of those cases and they should have taken years of discovery and pre-trial litigation measures before reaching a settlement.  But, it's Other People's Money (OPM) and these Leftist governing officials have no understanding about liability and/or the economic value of money.

This is the place where a shoot can be called bad and when the footage comes out that shows the shooting actually is good; you'll still have people calling it bad. Even frame by frame analysis wont sway this crowd
