KFC is the latest fast-food chain to test going beyond meat.
KFC announced that they will be testing new menu items featuring plant-based chicken. The company is teaming up with Beyond Meat, which also has partnered with Dunkin' and Subway to bring meat-free options to their menus.

Little Brother has been a vegetarian since he was in college(almost 30 years for him), and I ate like one about half the time I stayed with him in the Bay Area a few years ago. One of our favorite restaurants close to his apartment was a Japanese fried chicken place, and their vegetarian stuff was really good.

For the record; he thinks that vegans are, for the most part, insufferable assholes.

Eggplant made like french toast and served with bacon is quite tasty...

I saw something I did not believe possible. We had a KFC at an intersection that 50,000 cars a day go by, close. Utterly incompetent staff, could NEVER EVER GET your orders right. Even when you went inside to order. And this occurred around 5 years ago. It had been there for atleast 20 years before that.

I expect I will be seeing a lot more of this across a lot of FF chains. Good riddance to utter crap food.

I know I’ll probably catch heat for this, but I’ve tried these and they’re better than real “chicken parts is parts” chicken nuggets.

I LOVE that stuff !

Better than real chicken.  No veins and arteries and ligaments and shit.

How much longer until meat-free Steak or shrimp arrives?

How much longer until actual meat is banned from sale and replaced?

I don’t know if I’d go that far, but fried seitan buffalo “wings” were definitely surprisingly good when I’ve had them before.

These “nuggets” have a very chicken-breast-meat-like composition, are perfectly seasoned, and have an excellent crunchy crust on them. Everyone I know who had them thought they were better than McDonald’s or other “parts is parts” nuggs.

Naturally a real chicken tender is superior, but these nuggets are really tasty.

The Japanese were making synthetic steak out of human waste a few years ago. Lab grown beef is a thing now but it's still ungodly expensive.

Good.  More options means a wider demographic.  Nobody is going to force you to order it.  But it may provide a decent alternative for people.  I don't see how that would be a bad thing.

Ok, I'll try.  Mk ultra and the majestic twelve plot to make everybody eat soy so as to increase estrogen levels in men.  Making them all gay so that population can be controlled, and more susceptible to sjw programming.  Does that about cover it.  Damn you kfc and your devious plans.

Some ex-omnivores might miss the texture and flavor of meat. If you had to give up meat due to a dietary restriction or allergy this might scratch that itch.

Also those of us who like meat but want to eat lighter at times. I don’t go out to eat that often, so when I do I tend to splurge on a nice big protein, but I know a lot of people that go out weekly if not many times a week, and they might like a lighter (don’t laugh) option.

Depending on the ingredients it may or may not actually be healthy (see turkey bacon).

Animals have been eating meat for a long time. We are meant to do it. Veganism and that other shit is just weird liberal bullshit. Allergies? I guess go buy protein powder.

Nah.  I'll keep raising my handful of steers and a few breeding sows.  Chickens are even easier to raise.  Only those trapped in suburbia and urban areas will be meatless soy consumers.

They should pass a law: A product cannot be referred to as "meat" in any way unless it contains the flesh of an animal.

That...thing...may be fried, but it has no relationship with a chicken.

I don’t see a vegan option lasting on their menu. KFCs around here are sort of sketchy. I haven’t ate at one in over a decade and probably never will again. I wish their fake chicken luck though.

I’ve used the “beyond beef” as a substitute for ground beef in a pasta dish I made before...... the stuff isn’t bad. But it’s not great.
