A large carp flew into the boat, knocking Henry completely backwards with his feet waving in the air. It then scraped across Thomas' head, before smacking Reece in the head.
'Then it hit the side of the boat and it hit me and then there was blood everywhere,' Emily added. Henry, who is 'still processing the trauma', does not want to go on the John boat again, she said.
Emily, who says her children loved the water and fishing before the incident, claimed they are lucky that no one was hurt or fell into the water. She added that the situation serves as a reminder to 'always wear a life jacket'.
VIDEOThis is the hilarious moment a huge Asian carp slapped three young children in the face and sent one of the startled youngsters flying after it leapt into their family's boat.
Emily Carter, of Owensboro, Kentucky, and her husband Brandon took their daughter and two sons out on their new John boat on Sunday, just two hours after purchasing it.
They were on the water for only a few minutes when a large carp flew through the air, whacking their pre-school aged son Henry in the face and onto the floor of the boat near his father, WBKR Radio reported.
Their daughter Reece, a second grader, and youngest son Thomas were also flapped by the fish, causing them to hop into Emily's lap.
The mother-of-three, whose video of the incident has gone viral after amassing more than 35 million views on TikTok, joked that the 'kids are LOVING the new boat!'
The Carter family had just gone out on a pond in West Davis county when the hilarious incident unfolded on Sunday.
'We were on water for maybe a minute and Brandon cranks the engine and fish started to fly everywhere, Emily told the radio station.
She explained that Reece, who is visibly upset at the start of the video, was 'crying in the beginning because one [of the fish] had splashed her and it scared her'.
Emily says the fish had settled down a bit so she decided to pull out her phone to take a 'candid video of the kids being sweet'.
'Thomas was really into it,' she recalled, noting how he was trying to calm his sister down before 'everything broke loose.'
