LEO Suicide (Page 1 of 4)

I am logged in to my husband's account. He was a police officer and took his own life on 10/07/18.. I didnt really know where to turn and I've wondered if you knew him and noticed his absence. To all LEO's, please take care of yourself. I could have never imagined this pain and the hole that I feel.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what you must be going through. For what it's worth, my uncle was a cop, my cousin was a cop and my brother was a cop. I don't claim any special insight, just that I've seen them when they were up and I've seen them when they were down.
K9346 was a valued member of our community and will be sorely missed. The department should have resources to help you in your time of need. Use them. Don't let one casualty turn into two. Our thoughts are with you. |

Ma'am I'm sorry for your loss. I retired from law enforcement last year after 28 years. It's hard on the body and soul to see what humans can do to each other over and over. We tend to try to leave it in the squad room and not to take it home. Self medicating tends to be a bad habit as well as not asking for help. Your husband seems to have had an account over 10 year with a low post count so he probably didn't post a lot and stayed in the technical forums for his favorite weapons. Pain doesn't go away after suicide, it just migrates to those left behind. I lost a friend many years ago to suicide and from my experience, the only advice I can give is to not mull over what to say to someone contemplating it, but instead to simply listen. Don't judge, don't give advice, don't try to provide all the answers, just listen. |

I always knew you had to be willing to die to even do this job. But, I don't want to push my chips forward and go out and meet something I don't understand. A man would have to put his soul at hazard. He'd have to say, "O.K.I'll be part of this world

Someone breaks a leg bone, from falling off their motorbike - oxygen, lights an sirens to the hospital. Yet no real mechanism exists for dealing with sick brains. And "strokes" are not an illness of the brain, those are illnesses of the CV system. I am really very sorry for your loss. If you don't hurt too much, and wish to share any of the good times with us - we are all ears. |
