Not that it'll affect too many. I went to a womens amateur match in Ann Arbor a few years ago. Unlike the men's side there is plenty of room to roam around the course when women are playing.

The city’s rise in homelessness, including people living near the parking lots of the country club, led to the decision:

“Their reason for departure center around the City of Portland’s response to safety and security around the city. With LPGA players, Media, Sponsors, and thousands of spectators coming into town this fall, the tournament organizers had concerns about the safety of the city and opted to find a venue out of the city limits,” Ken Smith said in the letter. “At this point, we are unsure about future years of the tournament and where it will be conducted. But we will keep you informed of any updates as we learn more in the coming months.”

The tournament is now scheduled to be at the Oregon Golf Club Sept. 16 through Sept. 19.

“We’re pleased that the decision was made to keep the tournament in the greater Portland metropolitan area and look forward to its continuation in September 2021,” Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler’s office said in a statement. “We understand the tournament organizer’s concerns and we’re working to address those.”

Wow, you'd have to bring in cops from all over the state, or the damn Army to deal with that amount of van-life/homeless people. That's crazy and gross.

Yep, nobody NEEDS that much green space. Golfers need to check their privilege and provide a more diverse and inclusive use of all that space complete with overflowing portoshitters tents and needles.

LPGA tournaments allow much better fan access than PGA. I prefer to watch the women play for this reason, and the fact that their game is much closer
to mine in terms of distance off the tee etc.. And, because they're women.

Her company has hired security to protect their parking lot and building

They can't get officers from anywhere else to come. Last year the other 35 sheriff's in the state wrote and all signed a letter stating they will not go to help. Many nearby city police departments also sent letters saying they wouldn't come either.

It's usually held at a course which is on marine drive, marine drive is a road that runs along the Columbia River but in the last year or so marine drive has been absolutely taken over by the homeless.

I take that road to get to Costco and it's crazy how fast it was turned into a shithole.

It's an industrial area.
It was a normal industrial area forever.
What do you expect industrial areas to look like?

Now it's an industrial with homeless and trash everywhere.

The issue in the area is not new, it’s just gotten worse
