The top official in charge of China’s COVID-19 response doesn’t think the destructive virus’ origins will ever be revealed, according to a report. Dr. George Fu Gao, director of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, told the Telegraph that he is “not optimistic” that information will be publicly shared because the globe is too invested in the subject. Though cagey, Gao — who is thought to know more about the origins of the disease than any other scientist — did claim that there is no evidence COVID lived on an intermediate animal species between sprouting on bats and jumping to humans. “I, too, thought there must be an intermediate host — a reservoir — but now I’m not so sure. Hey, Peter Daszak of the Eco Health Alliance, where did COVID-19 originate? "We are only looking at viral families that include those that have gone into people from animals. And so we narrow it down straight away. Then, when you get a sequence of a virus and it looks like a relative of a known nasty pathogen, just like we did with SARS, we found other coronaviruses in bats, a whole host of them. Some of them looked very similar to SARS. So we sequenced the spike protein, the protein that attaches to cells. Then we, well I didn't do this work, but my colleagues in China did the work. You create pseudo particles, you insert the spike proteins from those viruses and see if they bind to human cells. Each step of this, you move closer and closer to this virus could really become pathogenic in people. Probably still gets our tax dollars. Our Intel agencies probably have tons of data on the origins. Intercepts of communication from 2019, where people were, documents.
