I'm looking for several sets of low cost "barely get the job done" body armor. Steel, ceramic,,,makes no difference. I need something to stop the "zombie" with a gun. Any ideas??

You said least. Buy some ceramic tiles for a bathroom and duct tape them together. After that, used kevlar vests or AR500 depending upon what the zombie is using.

As someone who has needed his body armor before, cheapest isn't something you want.

Hesco 3810 or 4800.

A Kevlar welding blanket and some spray adhesive.

This.

I like AMI's TAC3S, but it ain't cheap, and while it has outstanding multi-hit durability, it's easier to defeat than true ceramic level IV.

Buy a bunch of old paperbacks at a library sale or goodwill and superglue them into some sort of conformal armor. Bonus points for heavily featuring james Patterson and john Grisham books.

We just had a thread about cheap armor. Use fiberglass cloth and epoxy, doesn't work with .223/5.56.
Youtube it or search here for it. Interesting build.

Steel targets from Walmart or Academy.  Although it seems a little counter intuitive to tape targets to your torso.

Do they? Any links? The last few times I checked out their site it looked like all tactical things had been purged so maybe I am looking in the wrong place.

It does look like they’ve sold out of most of their stuff. There isn’t a whole lot of anything on the site. I’m not sure if they just buy bulk overstock when it’s available or if they’ve just stopped selling anything tactical.

I bought 2 sets of plates from them last year and shipping took a while but they are a legit vendor.

If you're ever going to wear them ever, do not go this path.

Be me
Be in early 20s
Want body armor because obviously
End up with 9lb level III plates and shitty carrier.
Wear around house occasionally because armor and to familiarize.
Forget about because sucks and only good for pics
Get asked to go on run in full kit.
Setup so bad it literally gets put inside ruck instead of worn.

Also though:

Be me one year ago
Go to Cola Warrior because guns are cool.
See one billion different plate carriers.
Get to see, try and hold a bunch.
Talk about various threat levels, pricing, weight
End up with Esstac PC and have almost saved enough for Hesco 3810s
Now can actually boogaloo.
Don't hate wearing it plus better protection.
Mfw Level IV is half the weight of my shitty Level III steel

I have a set of the RMA ceramic plates....they’ll get the job done but they’re heavy. When I bought them it was what I could afford and I’d rather have heavy than nothing.

When funds allow I’ll upgrade them and turn these into a backup.

Thanks guys for the input. I have level IV ceramic for the wife and I along with a set for the son and wife. I'm working with some local VFD guys to help them find affordable armor. I get the "don't go cheap" part but these guys aren't millionaires.

There are some Chinese ones made of wallboard.  They should do nicely.

How much is your life barely worth?

This is one of the few categories where PRICE should be one of the least important deciding factors.

Ar500 steel Lvl3+ lightweight is nice and relatively inexpensive, I dont see the point of lvl3 plates.

But for real though the RMA 1155 is what I'd recommend for a dirt cheap plate.
