There has been very few times in my life where I left a club behind. I lost a 60° wedge at Grand Forks North Dakota 15 years ago and that is the only club I ever lost. A few years ago, I put stickers on all of our clubs in the whole famdamily. I also secured one to my rangefinder last year. Last Monday I was playing in my nine hole league and the weather was bad and we rushed to the cart barn after we were done and I left that damn thing attached to the post. I realized it as soon as I got home and I called right away, but they were already closed. I called immediately the next morning and spoke to the pro shop attendant who went out and looked in the cart. Barn but came back four minutes later and couldn’t find anything. I asked if I could come down and look around and he said “I won’t stop you.” I headed down there and no luck. It was raining during our round and it rained the next day and the next day as well. There were very few people on the course and I think they let a lot of their cart guys off. I called on the third day and I asked if someone could check with the guys working that night in the cart barn. The guy said he would text his friend, but he doesn’t work until the very next Saturday which was five days from then. Something started to sound very fishy to me with the way he said that. Pro shop guy said call back in an hour and I did and he said he hadn’t heard from him about an hour after that the guy called and he said “good news! someone turned in your rangefinder.” he then immediately proceeded to tell me that the sticker had fallen off because of the rain. I told him I would be right down. I pick up the rangefinder and the stickers is placed on the wrong part of the rangefinder and I can tell that a corner had been peeled up and the entire thing looked pretty darn clean. The optics did not have any water spots or anything on them. I think someone’s conscience got the best of them and they decided to finally turn it in. I guess ID stickers are for the honest people. |

A common AR15.com mantra seen posted frequently here is "Gear adrift is a gift." I had some mother fucker steal my field jacket from my last Army Reserve Unit and believe anyone that hold's that view is a stealing POS. My guess is everyone in the cart shop knew who had your range finder and the manager told them to cough it up. If you wanted to press it, get the course manager involved, and I expect some people would be fired. Someone that would steal from their work, should not be trusted, and doesn't need to work there. |

I'm not pressing it and I'm just happy to have it back. It was close to $300. One thing that was funny is that the pro shop attendant said the sticker fell off because of the weather. I ask who turned it in and he said one of the cart guys. All that plus a clean and dry rangefinder? Bullshit. I have to keep better track of my shit. A guy who walks through a high crime area waving hundred dollars bills above his head will probably get robbed. He's not committing the crime and has every right to do so, but it's not victim blaming to tell people to make better choices. I've found many clubs and get excited as hell to see a sticker. I call every time at my earliest convenience, since they are probably still on the course. They all get turned into the pro shop. Every single time. |

I worked at a small public [was private in 70s and 80s] GC while in college. Long days when daylight until near 9. Well after dark one of the last carts returned I found in passenger side cart dash pocket a wallet, Rolex and gallon ziplock of oregano - wallet was jammed full of cash. To tell you the kind of place this was, the ball washer was a very old mechanical GE washing machine - box of washing powder on shelf. I put all of the found items minus the ziplock in the washing machine, tossed the weed. Coming up the hill to finish my work and there was a car parked, drivers side door open, car running and some guy looking through glass on shop door. Dude was FREAKING out! LOL |

Phone is out in the basket mounted above dash inside the cart next to the BT speaker (I keep it at low volume, don't worry). Range finder also sits in the basket. Nice thing about this position is it sits right in my line of sight so if anything is missing I notice immediately. I also return everything I find to the proshop, ratty headcovers, wedges, etc. I have had my putter headcover lost and returned so maybe there is something to that Karma thing. |

There are so many range finders left at courses. Mostly by me, I’ve always gotten them back. It goes in a padded pocket, no case so I finally started putting phone and wallet in there so I don’t forget. A good cart crew will have your cart cleaned out before you walk away and should have it to you before you walk off. Instead of a sticker, add an AirTag. |

Mine lives in a pocket on my bag. I use it and it goes right back in the pocket. If I'm too far away from the bag, it goes in my pant pocket, then in the bag's pocket when I return. I don't put anything in the cart other than food wrappers, head-covers, and my drink. Head covers go back on before the bag comes off the cart. Clubs get placed on the green or fringe between the hole and the cart or exit direction. Short grass. Not long grass. |
