| I like the look of one without the pick guard. If I was going to buy one, I'd probably get one with a pick guard, simply because it protects the finish. I don't play in a way where I would hit the finish necessarily , but still. My Jackson doesn't have a pick guard, and I don't think I've ever hit it, but it's a bit of a different shape. My SG does have a small one. My best friend, a luthier, built his Les Paul without one, but his other one that he bought has a pick guard. I guess it's just what you like, or maybe just what's available when you buy one. |

Get both, not 2 guitars, but use a clear pickguard so it protects the surface but you can't really see it. I just put one on my Zager 50 CE OM I picked up last week. I didn't like the black pickguard it came with so I bought a clear one. Check it out. Attached File Attached File |

| I voted no pickguard. I like the look of both, but I've found that the pickguard annoys me when I play. I anchor my pinky a lot. |

I like both on or off, but once one has been installed I can’t handle seeing the screw hole in the top when removed. My latest LP, only on because the original owner installed it, but doesn’t bother me at all. Attached File |

Here's an interesting one, IMO. It's NOT mine (Lordy do I wish it were - Gibby Frampton, I think a really early one  ). Pickguard present but it doesn't really register as there to me.

| lol I go both ways. I have an Epi 60's Standard in Iced Tea and a Burny LP in Lemon with the pick guards removed, they look better. This Christmas I got a 24 Gibson LP Studio Plain Top in Cherry Burst that is keeping the guard on for now. Looks really good with it on. |
