Doing a quick search I can find nothing on long term results of vaping.  I'm assuming they haven't been able to link nicotine vape products to anything harmful otherwise pharma and tobacco would have been blasting the information out there to try to get people back on their products.

I have been vaping for about 15 years now I think and my lungs work great.  All healed up from the previous 15 years of smoking.  I'm currently trying to quit vaping with reduced use and nicotine pouches .  The physical habit of putting something in my lungs is the hard part for me.  But I was just curious if they ever found out anything long term on it

Sounds like you did your own.

If you're worried, there is what is now a common test that uses a CT scan to look at all the arteries in your chest for blockage, and it also looks at your lungs.  My insurance covered it 100%, but it's only $200 otherwise.  It took 10 minutes, and I didn't even have to take my shirt off.

You'd assume wrong.

The tobacco companies just bought the vape companies because they were beating the tobacco products.

You've been vaping for about as long as the products have been on the market, so you'll be the long term study.

At some point by now you'd think there would be some medical research on it though.  Unless it's just one of those things where medicine would prefer you put nothing in your lungs so they don't study it.  If found out vaping itself was relatively harmless could lead to a lot more people addicted to nicotine.

If there were any hard evidence either way, I'm sure you would have heard about it.

If someone presented a study which found harm caused by long-term vaping, would you believe it?

So with that I mind, it doesn't matter if there were any studies done or not. If you're like most people, you'll believe the studies that result in affirmation of what you're already doing, and you'll refute studies that suggest that you shouldn't be doing something.

What makes you think there hasn't been?

If you choose not to believe what's already out there, are you just looking for people here to tell you there are no health concerns?  I think you already know there are.   You are fine and in good health, until you're not.

It's not just the vaping juice that you need to worry about, heavy metals can end up in your lungs as some of the device vaporizes itself with the juice, a little at a time.

I'll read that but it's a 3 month study so not really a long term  effects thing.  Also in many of the the studies are really not good such as the ones you are suggesting where they used disposables and cheap systems where the cotton wick gets burned and the heating element gets superheated.

What I'm curious about is some 10 year plus lung and blood vessel study of smokers vs those who only vape vs those who never did anything.     There's been a lot of studies showing the smoke and tar damage from smoking disappears with vape.  Most doctors who actually had patients switch and have done lung xrays verify that the lungs regenerate.    But it's been long enough to determine whether they completely regenerate or if the nicotine vapor is preventing full regeneration.

I'm quitting vaping either way.  I'm at a point where I'm just tired of wasting the money on it and I have changed every other aspect of my health habits including diet and exercise.  I'm in very good shape and nicotine is my last vice.  At 41 it's time to get rid of it since from here out it will be a fight to preserve health as I get old.  I'm just curious  why there isn't some real conclusive studies on people who quit smoking and vapes for many years

The danger with smoking is the nicotine delivery system which is smoke laced with tars and other byproducts, look at a filter after smoking one.
Vaping gets all the nasty stuff out and just delivers nicotine, way healthier than smoking, imagine inhaling burning coffee beans for a caffeine fix.
Nobody will be coming to save you, plan accordingly.

Here's the summation of the study you linked: the researchers demonstrated that blood vessel damage does not appear to be caused by a specific component of cigarette smoke or e-cigarette vapor. Instead, they said, it appears to be caused by airway irritation that triggers biological signals in the vagus nerve that somehow leads to blood vessel damage, possibly through an inflammatory process.

I have no doubt that inhaling a foreign substance will cause inflammation.  No doubt.  Still significantly less detrimental than cigars or cigarettes.

I still unfortunately vape from time to time.  I can blame it on job stressors, but ultimately its on me.  I was a cigarette smoker for 20+ years; haven't smoked one in over 10.

I take my health serious.  I don't eat processed foods, I track calories, and I work out 5 days a week.  Been doing this for more 5-6 years.  I get my blood panels done every 6 months just so I know.  My blood panels are perfect; my NO levels are typically elevated (from working out that morning).

In summary, vaping isn't without some effects.  That said, the researchers in your study haven't introduced anything groundbreaking.

Therin lies the problem. I'm not saying YOU would, but most people (especially those with an addiction to anything) will label any study saying that their addiction is harmful a "bullshit scare tactic." No study saying vaping is harmful will ever live up to the criteria necessary to make it "credible."

Around 2015 my father, who was in his late 60s at the time, sat at my dining room table at Easter dinner and went off on a rant about how smoking isn't actually harmful, and all the cancer is actually caused by a mold in peanuts, but the government depends too much on the agricultural peanut industry for taxes and jobs, so they covered it up and blamed smoking. He will never believe any study, ever, that finds that smoking is anything other than perfectly healthy. He'll find a reason to dismiss every single one as a "bullshit scare tactic."

Most addicts are the same. It's part of what makes an addiction, an addiction.

Here's the rub.  In theany early studies they did to prove harm showing hazardous chemicals and popcorn lung, they were basing them on running ecig in ways that NOBODY actually vapes.  At insane wattages burning the wicks and superheating the heat element.  Basically running the wick dry.       That was proven.  Also the popcorn lung myth was based on a flavor additive everyone stopped using and there was never even a reported case of it from vaping to this day.

So yeah I'm gonna read the study and try to find out how it was done.  I learned these asshole will rig a study long before covid.     While it's possible ecigs do harm  it took a while for any legit studies and it was shown exponentially less harm than smoking does.  Now that we are 15 years into it there should be some legit long-term effects studies. Not all studies are legit.  Particularly ones funded by people with a profit motive

Should we vape? Probably not. Is it way safer than smoking? Yep.   I'm just curious how the lungs have done over long term exposure.  Would be good for capers to know .  A lot of people consider it relatively safe due to a large volume of data with health outcomes.  I'm quitting because of age and reaching the point where I'd rather take no risks but others may not.  They my need data showing what the actual risks are to make that decision.

Long term longitudinal studies are not cheap so you are asking for something that may never happen.   NIH grants are generally 5 years long so few studies will go more than 2-3 as you need to recruit subjects, follow them (many of which drop out) and collect, analyze and publish the data.     The National Cancer Institute or the National Institute on Drug Abuse might be running a project that is more long term and it is easy enough to find out if you have the time to search for it.

However, I don't see why you think this is going to tell you something you couldn't learn in a shorter period of time through other means.   We know that the vehicle in vape juice pyrolyzes into chemicals that are not terribly good for you when inhaled.  I don't imagine they get less bad for you if you vape them for several years.

Is vaping safer than smoking?   I think the likely answer to this, based on the data out there, is yes.  So, if you are not going to stop using a nicotine product entirely then you are probably better off vaping than using tobacco.

It’s better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than open it and remove all doubt.

I smoked for a number of years and if I could go back in time I would slap myself in the face for it.

Wasting all that time, money, and health for zero benefit.

Good on you for wanted to quit OP.  The $ alone is a solid motivator.

The latest is a kid from new zeland. Started vaping at 14, and at 17 woke up to pain and struggled to breath. Had chunks of blackened lung cut out. Apparently linked to his heavy vaping habit

I will say I am concerned about the numerous different products and a lot of them coming out of China.  The presence of heavy metals to me is a likely concern.  I have no fact based information to provide. I steer clear of disposables because I think they could be worse in this regard but not saying non disposables are exempt from such issues.  These are just my feelings, not fact based.
